Re: Westjet CYHZ

It is very hard to show a return on investment upgrading runways and approaches. So I do not think Halifax will consider an ILS on 5 or 32 when a LPV approach gets you down to 200-250 ft decision altitude right now. Conversely building stores and restaurants in terminals generates revenue. That is ...

Re: Westjet CYHZ

What's so concerning is the mindset that diversion, even under such bad conditions, isn't an option. I've heard many discussions about whether operators should upgrade to WAAS or Halifax should upgrade to 4 ILSes, and in the end, if operators don't want to do the costly upgrade then they have to be...

I've done it, best decision I ever made. You won't regret it. ... Flying a Kingair/PC12 is ridiculously easy. All you need to develop right now is good IFR skills. The rest you should already have (Flight planning, weather, fuel, decision making, airsmanship, etc). I have been flying fixed wing VFR...

Re: Helicopter to Fixed wing advice

Hello, I am looking for some input and some suggestions on who to contact or what to do next for employment. I am currently converting my helicopter to a fixed wing license. I am trying to plan ahead bit and see what my next steps should be. When I am finished I will have about 1100 hours total tim...

Re: FAA bans US flights over Middle East....

Reminder that in 1988 the US navy shot down an Iranian passenger aircraft killing all 290 people on board. The excuse given by the US Navy was that they incorrectly identified the widebody Airbus A300 for a F-14 "Iran Air Flight 655 was a scheduled passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai via Bandar Ab...

Heavy tailwind/gust Shitty runway surface condition Shitty visibility and ceiling On a -800 which doesn’t have the greatest reputation for its braking/landing performance And they landed on the shortest runway ... Re: Time is of the essence

I know a very decent 703 company that will absolutely enforce the bond and they will lawyer up even if the cost of collection is higher than what they’ll collect. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. If you want to bail after 3 months for that oh-so desirable Jazz job and you signed a bond t...

I’m not surprised, it’s the equivalent of trying to find a renter through craigslist ‘wanted’.

Having done both the rotary and fixed wing walk of shame/hangar knocking, I would make those observations: - The road trip thing is kind of a shotgun spread approach, you might get lucky and walk in as they need someone (actually one time after a week long road trip, driving to Slave Lake, I missed ...

Looking at airbnb's not to bad for price wise. Thanks Disgusting Chinese run clandestine hotels, I’d rather drive 12 hours, sleep in my car and/or book off than sleep in one of these. Just goes to show you how arbitrary the selection process is. There's a number who shouldn't be here but one individual in specific, I am absolutely shocked was hired. Based on their Jazz training record it should have been an auto PFO. Either they lied in their interview, or multiple failed rides ...

Yeah those 767 tankers the US Air Force is now refusing to accept because of all sorts of quality control issues.

I wouldn't be so sure about the "too big to fail" mantra. Chapter 11 is looking more and more likely imho. Stopping production is going to hit the supply chain vendors extremely hard. I was reading Boeing have over 400 Max aircraft parked. Air Canada may want to reconsider its order. I’m positive t...

Word around Jazz is that captianKirk (the mentor guy and youtube one) is going to mainline AC.It makes sense, considering that he's removed his "regional pilot pay" video.
