In my opinion If it was fuel contamination it would happen much earlier in the flight. How long is the flight from Iqaluit to Gilliam ? 2 hrs ??
Not necessarily, could be certain fuel tanks that were affected.

Interesting to hear the other side... If you don't mind my asking: why would they sue you over the bond? Shouldn't you be suing them to get your money back?

Re: Plane down

Whats RFP stand for? Sorry, reference to the Manitoba privatization. Stands for Request For Proposals. The government is getting pitched by a bunch of medevac operators to get the province wide contract. Crashing a plane probably doesn't look good for that, but on the other hand, crashing one witho...

Re: Bonds

Does anyone know if training bonds are anything like bail bonds? I have a couple of ex-employees I'd really like to hire a bounty hunter for. Sue them? I'm sure you could find them if you think you have a strong case... Just a joke, digits. I hate that I have to, but I do pursue all of them. Do you...

Re: Keewatin

Why would anyone go work for keweetin as an FO when a 250 hour pilot can work for Calm Air and make 60k as a year 1 FO? There are still way more 250 hour pilots out there than there are 250 hour pilot jobs... It's a good time to be a pilot, but still hard to start out, albeit significantly easier t...

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

If a 5 second transmission is the dfference between something happening or not a lot of other things wen't wrong before that! I have yet to come accross a situation where language, in an ATC world, has been a safety issue. Absolutely, I don't think anyone here thinks that speaking French in itself ...

Re: Keewatin

50k for captains though? Perimeter makes just shy of double that on base salary, short of triple that if you add the bonuses. Vanguard is around 70k nowadays I believe? I'm honestly surprised they can still find captains meeting the medevac minimums for that salary. But hey, their perogative of cour...

Re: Bonds

If anything, a bond makes it morally easier to leave: you pay the agreed amount, and there shouldn't be any hard feelings on either side. It becomes a whole different story when you are trying to leave because of illegal things and safety issues. Much harder to put your foot down if it could cost yo...

Most of them are legal yes.

With a bond, you usually don't pay for on the job training. You just owe the employer money if you leave within a specified time period, typically 1-3 years.

Re: TSB deploys a team of investigators to a landing incident at the Calgary International Airport, Alberta

First of all, I'm not blaming the crew for their actions, it seems to be an industry standard out here. However, I am wondering why pilots, mechanics and management seem to want to try and get the gear up and locked when there is a transit light issue. If the gear behaves abnormaly, I would stop try...

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

Partly because most people can understand. Honest question: wouldn't an English transmission be understood by more people, even in Quebec? I admit my encounters with Quebec pilots are limited, but all pilots I've met know English. Is it common for Quebec people to understand English? English pilots...

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

Here's another question: why even bother with an MF if there can be 2 pilot groups on the frequency that don't understand each other?

NavCanada determined an airfield needs an MF, but the pilot group/regulator decides it's not an issue if you only understand half the planes in the circuit.

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

That's just silly. Will you learn Chinese if your next flight goes to/over/through China? No, I won't. Because a quick look at the accident rate shows that there is no safety risk in flying through China without being able to speak Mandarin. What's silly is claiming that not learning a language is ...

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

I have an instinctive mistrust of any argument that says that a great number of other people need to go to a great deal of trouble in order to improve my safety. If I really thought I would be significantly safer understanding everything on the radio while flying in French speaking areas, in any pr...

Re: English Vs French on the Radio.

What I always find interesting is those pilots who feel that it's unsafe enough to warrant someone else learning English in order to fly in a French province, but it's not unsafe enough to warrant learning French in order to fly in a French province. You'd think if rookiepilot actually thought is w...

Re: VFR and CFIT

For what it's worth, there is no "rest of European airspace". Every country has significantly different rules regarding general aviation. Most of them agree somewhat on airline operations and high altitude IFR flying, but other than that, every country does what they want. While hard to quantify, I'...

Re: Regional 1 Ship jumping?

Technically what happens when an AOC is pulled you end up with a limited 604 operations. No pax, cargo, night, IFR ECT.... so they are not even a private operator I agree. Generally technical ferry flights and training are still allowed though, otherwise how would an operator be able to fix mainten...

Re: Regional 1 Ship jumping?

Just the training will not be recognized. They can put pilots in the sim all they want, but if they have there AOC yanked and can only operate under cars604. Why bother, they are not approved for IFR, nighttime flying and others. Essentially there giving training on a big 172 that won’t be valid. I...
