Re: How old is told old to start a career?
You're not too old!!!
Had my first job flying commercially at 36, and now flying corporate at 42... ea306 is right about timing and luck BUT i'm tempted to say that its more about "who you know" than "who you are" and "what you did"...!
Good luck

Re: French in Radio
Can anyone provide a better source than CARs 602.133 on why french is acceptable? Of course, if the controller is french, and all the traffic is french, the point is moot. However, when not everyone speaks french, how is it that it's ok for a foreign language to be used aviation. Again, if everythi...

To intercept an outbound track, use the following formula: Tail-Desired-Further Pick the tail of the needle (which is at 160) (head at 340) Move the tail toward the desired track (300) by the shortest path (160 -> 300) Futher, move 45deg further (you want to intercept with a 45deg angle, so 345deg.....

Re: Mais quoi faire...?

Re: Alternate Weather Minima - GPS
The wording is very precise, and very clear. There's no such concept as they mean the "planned destination" (alternate) - there are just two aerodromes, the planned destination and the alternate. Have a read of TC AIM 3.14.1 - maybe it will be clearer to you. Youre maybe right but that just not log...

Re: Alternate Weather Minima - GPS
I would have to disagree on that! Not so fast .... CAP GEN say: Pilots can take credit for a GNSS-based approach at an alternate aerodrome when all of the following conditions are met: (a) A usable approach at the planned destination is served by a functioning traditional aid. Don't mix up the dest...

Re: Alternate Weather Minima - GPS
You are correct you use 800-2 or 300-1 above the lowest useable HAT/HAA and visibility, whichever is greater. I would have to disagree on that! As he said, his alternate only has GPS approaches. CAP GEN say: Pilots can take credit for a GNSS-based approach at an alternate aerodrome when all of the ...

Re: De Ice & Anti Ice costs in Canada
Thats not that bad.... The worst that i have personnally done is a 737-800 that spent the night under freezing rain... It had more than an inch thick of clear ice on it, all over the plane. Ive estimated that we put for approximately 35000-40000$ of type 1 only... Type 4 cost wasa negligeabl...

Re: IPAD
On a side note.... Why aren't NOTAMs for airspace restrictions hyperlinked to a LO or HI chart so you can SEE where the restriction is? I was thinking exactly the same thing! FAA has a web site that do that for the TFR, soooo much easier to see if your flight path will come close or in a TFR! NAVCA...
