Re: Reference Checks
I couldn't care less what outfit you work at. You NEVER tell your current employer that you're even thinking of leaving. I've seen countless friends let go for trying to "give a heads up". Granted, I'm sure there's some genuine operators out there, but from my experience, you're better off keeping ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Updated sheet with some of the info given by others There are some other variables that make this spreadsheet no where close to reality as well. For instance, the top 800 people or so on that figure of 1450 Jazz pilots are probably there to stay now. So really the chances would be much higher at Ja...

Re: " I've been Rouged " Brilliant marketing!
Of course peole are going to say that Rouge is the worst because they are comparing it to the mainline which is by far a superior product to that of any other Canadian airline. I was pleasantly suprised with Rouge and will travel with them again. Service was great and seat was comfortable. Just no l...

Re: " I've been Rouged " Brilliant marketing!
The new seats at Rouge are for sure smaller than the minline. However, still way more comfortable and more legroom than a Westjet seat. Haven't flown Sunwing yet so can't comment on them but out of Air Canada, Rouge, Westjet and Transat, Westjet is the worst followed not to far by Transat.

Re: Request from a Recip pilot
A web listing for recip pilots sure would be nice. At least you guys have the call back option on your phones...sometime. I have also spent up to an hour on hold trying to list for a WJ flight and just got frustrated and hung up. Life of commuting...

Is there no plans for a repalcement for the Embraers? Those 37's have a much higher capacity. I can't imagine all the routes will need the extra seats.

Re: Georgian RJ's
Jazz is in an awful position no doubt. I'm thinking that more Jazz f/o's will be saying yes to Encore instead of no. Reality is that there is still to many pilots in Canada and the USA. Simple supple and demand. You can blame Sky, Encore, AC or whoever but until they cant find pilots things wont ch...

Because nobody can afford to live in YYC on 32k a year. Anyone with the 1500hrs and an ATPL will be at a 703/704 operator making twice that much.Oxi wrote:Browsing PCC, and Encore posted for FO's yet again. Can anyone speak to why they are still looking?

Re: Becoming a career pilot
ATC is a pretty awesome gig as well. Big pay cheque right off the bat. Very hard to get into though. I may be a little on the high side by saying the pass rate is about 10%. I have had the privelage to sit in at ATC for a few sessions with friends that work there. Pretty neat job but there is just s...

Re: Becoming a career pilot
Starting out you are not going to be able to find a good paying job. They don't exist if you have no experience. The grumpy guy at the beggining of the thread obviously has lots of experience and doesn't understand this. It wasn't to long ago that I started out and pretty much evey job as a 200hr pi...

Looking at the latest OAL jumpseat list in flight ops doesn't have KFC either. Is there another list I am missing maybe?

Re: Jazz initial training locations?
I would say the initial training is all of 6 weeks if not just a wee bit more. You do get plenty of time to head back home during training. There is usually a break period at some point which gives you a week off. Jazz does also provide you with a flight home anywhere in Canada I think. Even if you ...

Re: AC/Jazz recruiting coordination??
Hey there. Just trying to find out if one was a new Jazz hire with an interview lined up or in the pool at Air Canada, would getting hired/being at Jazz cause the potential for an offer from Air Canada to decrease/fall through completely? Do these two companies coordinate so Air Canada is not pirat...

Not sure what mainline is like but I have never had a problem getting the cash from Jazz when cancelling a room. I think I made an extra $400 last last year by visiting friends and relatives overnight.

Just about. There are also a few C5's and then all the other airline folks that travel on D priority that you would be ahead of. For the most part, last on the flight tho.

Re: Red Deer Skywings/RDC program
I did the college program at Skywings. I really enjoyed it. When I did it, we did things at out own pace which was nice. As long as you have the drive it is easily done. Mount royal books all your flights for you and forces you to fly when you may not want to. I have heard you also have to waer the ...

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
As a Jazz pilot all I can say is that every company has a few tools. We are not immune to them either. It is just to bad that 1 or 2 give all the guys a bad name. It is very easy to pick out the moldy crusty guys. I know it is a longshot but it would be great to see the egos disappear one day. No on...
