Re: Years of service
I hope you're right Rudder. Cause if you're right it would mean that sw pilot hired in 2015 who upgraded in 2023 will be right away on the 9 years wj cap salary scale in 2024. That will be a big increase of money. However, I am not sure it's going to work this way. If they get the pay from WJ's col...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Last week I heard a SW pilot tell YYZ apron he needed 5 minutes before he could move so he could sort out the mess he was stuck in between WS ops and SW ops. It was probably a WestJet aircraft doing wet lease flying for Sunwing. I don't know but it was a SW callsign, I didn't see the aircraft. Yeah...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
About 500 WG and 2-3000 WS pilots are going to go through the simulator and learn new SOPs by October? They may fly routes like WS is already flying WG… but they will still be 2 distinct pilot groups for some time yet. Why do WJ pilots need to go into the sim? They do not have to learn new SOP’s. S...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
the October integration date might be optimistic Might??? Haha....at this point I think there is 0 chance of that. Actually there is almost 100% chance of that happening. The plan is to have WG trained and flying WJ routes either in or by the end of OCT. It’s whether ex-WG pilots will be sitting be...

Re: Picking up opentime
You've never had crew sched call you asking you to take a trip that would make you illegal for your next scheduled pairing? They'll worry about that next pairing later, they have fires to put out at that moment. You cannot pick up pairings in Opentime that make you illegal to operate your schedule....

Re: Picking up opentime
You may not necessarily be working more and you may actually end up working less while earning more. If you're able to pick up a trip that pays you OT while simultaneously making you illegal for the following trip yet still being pay protected when scheduling removes it. It's a win in my books. I a...

Get ready for a world class contract! World class: United, Cathay, Emirates, Delta, Qantas, Qatar, American, British Airways, Singapore, ANA, Air France, Lufthansa, Korean & Japan. Air Canada pilots prepare for a world class contract! You deserve it! NOT a substandard Westjet contract… Isn't that w...

Aren't you the same person who pretended to sound like you knew what you were talking about in the WJ forums about our contract and ended up being proven wrong in almost every possible sense?accountant wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 7:18 pm Spoken like a desperate union leader knowing he’s not getting what he’s hoping for…

Re: Ben Smith added to BOD
“Going back to the routes” I believe is the term they used. Did they seriously spell it like that? I don't know how you guys do it. Makes me want to loose my mind! But it’s a mute point, AF and WJ are in completely different legumes. This made me laugh way harder than it should have

Re: WestJet pilots to strike because $300K a year ain't enough
Toronto is one of the most expensive airports on planet. Until very recently it was number 1. The fees here are also insane, just look at the breakdown of your fare and see how much the airline is actually getting. For me, it’s the terminal 1. The most modern and efficient airport terminal worldwid...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
Bede, seems to think that Sunwing Captains will be position and base protected. Not sure YQB, YUL bases are safe though. WS has not had much luck being accepted by Quebec'ers, so not sure how likely keeping those pilot bases will be post "merger". Bede is the WJ merger chair. He knows what he it ta...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
So then what does AC need to get in order to not have a mediocre contract? 40%? 50%?
What about lifestyle and the cost associated with bargaining for such items?

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
How about dancing? That would be the happiest occasions! This certainly is a mediocre contract with gains equal or less than inflation, and scheduling at WestJet is the best in the country, however none of those change the fact that WestJet has a very long upgrade. In fact it could be argued that t...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
With the Westjet and Sunwing merger coming is it legitimate for people who want to work for WestJet go to Sunwing now? The Sunwing upgrade is basically as soon as you meet the min requirements while WestJet is still 10+ years. When the merger happens don’t Captains get protected? So basically In th...

Re: AIP is dogshit
So if I understand, WSP is the pension for 10% and CEP is Cash equivalent payment that will figure on the paystubs for 9.1% and will be taxable right away like source of income? Nope. WSP is 10% unmatched under the new contract. Under the old contract it was 20% matched. Under the new contract, 9.1...

Re: AIP is dogshit
2 of the 6 ALPA reps didn’t want it actually and thought that going on strike was a better option! This will go through barely I bet and will send a strong message that 40% of the pilots think this contract is bs! We shall see on Friday. I am sorry but when 2 of 6 say no, there are some red flags. ...

Re: AIP is dogshit
I thought that the WJA MEC/Negots Team said that they were going to investigate a CWIPP option for the 10%? Honestly all the details with the new WSP program are really hard to follow. But the latest I herd, as the gentleman mentioned above, is that the 9.1% goes into the payscale's. I'm alittle co...
