Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I'm not sure you realize the education and previous experience most AC OTS hires have. Delayed flow is not a 'punishment'. Any flow is a huge windfall for them. Anyway, I'm sure Jazz has its own forum. Are you implying that most OTS hires have more/better experience and education than Jazz hires? b...

Re: Jazz Hiring Qualifications

if you want to be a professional pilot, it's always better to fly employed. Let's say someone wants to be a chef, would it be better to be a line cook in a restaurant or cook food at home. Being a professional pilot is a lot more than flying an airplane it's 90% dealing with people. on hiring, no e...

Re: Weekend work, realistic ??

I did exactly that, started doing fam flights on weekends, the pilot for a day kind of stuff, where people come in for the experience of flying a plane and no real intent of doing training. You could look for a school that do a lot of those.

Where did you get that from, seems crazy low. Because I personally know about 20 ATPLed FOs, just on one type and in one base.

Re: DEC Jazz

An instructors shooting for DEC shows a lack of understanding what they are trying out for. they should go fo, ease through training, put CA in the standing bid on the plane they are training on and get a training date in the spring.

I know I am one, but seems like tc has an issue with it now.
Keep in mind thats only a rumor. Going to the sim next week will try to investigate on the matter.

no one will get the summer off, assuming the embraer initial is ready by then.

edit: just saw previous posts saying it's approved, the sim is not.

Re: Air Canada Revises the Terms of its Capacity Purchase Agreement with Chorus Aviation for Regional Flying

sky pilot here, I ve been following this tread anxiously. Few things to consider, AC definitely want to keep the 175 flying so I dont think parking them is an option. Also Sky has/had min time matrix for capt and minimum time for FO. Those minimums were imposed by air canada.....that is what mgt to...

Re: Free Money Management Advice.

I am wondering if paying off a mortgage is a good idea with interet rates still being quite low, especially if you have other debts and if you dont just remortgage and invest. I have witness someone making a significant profit selling a house, mostly due to the market price increasing, and put all t...

I use Qc 25 and this http://www.aviation.leosounds.de/Galerie-en.htm . Also fits the Qc 35. I really like the setup, use it in a fairly noisy airplane, the anr is great the headset is light and comfortable. Best part is without the mic assembly you use it as regular headset, very good sound quality ...

Maybe a bit farfetched but lets say you have a flight/route with few bookings...... Its going to cost you quite a bit to operate that flight. Now what would be the most acceptable reason to cancel that non profit generating flight....

Re: Knee surgery and flying

I Have rebuilt acl’s in both knees, I would say 6 to 8 weeks off work sounds right. First couple weeks are hard but then it gets better...but even if you feel good it may take 4-6 months before you get a stable knee so before that time you want to be extra careful not to tear that weak new acl. So I...

Re: Companies repeatedly posting

I'm an instructor and I got a job on a King Air, quick advancement to the left seat. I had a bunch of non instruction time too and MPIC, but no turbine experience. Of course, coming on with an ATPL thanks to my instructor years makes it a lot easier for those contract requirements. Where's the 1500...
