Re: Price/demand for free lance instructors.

A good rule is to charge the same rate as the flight school is charging plus travel expenses, if a lot of driving is involved, and make sure your insured on the owners aircraft, to give dual instruction, rates may vary depending on the aircraft as well, giving a float rating on a hot Cessna 185 an i...

Re: 50 hours and no solo

Not everyone is cut out to become a pilot, be it a helicopter or an airplane, I once tried to teach a rally car driver to fly an airplane his reflex were such he almost got us both killed from over controlling the aircraft, After hours of training I told him to stick to rally cars, flying was not fo...

Re: Compass Turning Error

Turning N to S, lag in the turn, E is E, E to S lead. Now if you go S to N, it will lead, but W is W, W to N it will lag, When passing through either E or W the compass will read correctly with no error, Have your instructor demonstrate it to you in the air,

Re: Is it realistic to be a PT flight instructor

I've been a flight instructor for 43 years now I work only 3 days a week at a flight school and sometimes will do a full week out of town for additional revenue in the summer, instructors are in big demand right now as most flight schools have more students than the instructors can handle, as a star...

Re: fabric cover

Putting your aircraft in a T hangar is not always a good idea, Bird crap is the main concern, Do as I do, get some good quality wing covers with a UV liner to protect from the sun, wind and rain, snow in the winter, and make sure they have a snug fit,

For many years I worked out of the St.Hubert airport and it was the busiest airport in Canada, theAir traffic controller's were the best in the country, This is not the first mid-air collision to happen at CYHU, When both runways are in use which is often the case ATC has to be sharp and pilots have...
