Re: ATPL as a requirement

With the AC flow through, mostly captains, coupled with the fact jazz hires sub 1000 hour no ATPL pilots, it will eventually catch up to them. I can see the hiring of Direct Entry Captains becoming a thing very soon. Get that PIC time. I don’t think you’ll see direct entry Captains, there are some ...

Air Canada is hiring close to 600 people a year at BOTL and many of them are just as experienced as the Transat pilots, or more.
Exactly.
I think your going to be very disappointed by the arbitrator

Re: Reverser Light leads to Engine Shutdown

The pilots did the right thing in shutting the engine down. You don't want to waste time when presented with a bad reverser. They then ran the qrh, which directed them to the correct procedure for that aircraft and they continued as they should. Hardly even worth mentioning really. What!! They were...

Re: Reverser Light Leads to Engine Shutdown

On the CRJ 200 you will get an amber REV UNLOCKED message. Procedure is to call for the QRC (quick response checklist)
On the CRJ 900 you will get a red REV DEPLOYED message. Procedure is to call for the QRC.
It is not a memory item to do a shutdown on either aircraft

Re: Reverser Light Leads to Engine Shutdown

What happens in an essentially centreline thrust aircraft when you shut down an engine at cruise speed? You slow down a bit? What happens if you have the buckets deploy at cruise power? Sounds like they weren't sure and played it safe. I'd call that a win. Wrong. There is a procedure for the situat...

Re: Time for Transat pilot future poll

The top scale Transat A330 captain has a lower pay rate than a A320 captain at AC. Essentially Transat Seniority #1 currently makes less on paper than a seniority number 3200ish that holds a A320 captain position at AC. Let that sink in. The Transat pilots have landed a windfall of a lifetime. Even...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

Really BOTL. Comfort in knowing pay won’t be hurt??? There’s way more to life than pay. Vacation schedule, monthly schedule are just 2 I can think of that that would be horrible going from a senior Capt go a BOTL FO Their airplane got sold. No it didn’t. AC had to buy Transat before Onex did and me...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

Put yourself in the other pilot's position and ask how you'd expect to be treated. Not gonna happen, but what if Delta buys AC, how should that merger go. 3000 pilots vs 15000. BOTL since I'll be making more money anyways This is why BOTL with pay protection makes the most sense to me. TS pilots ge...

Re: Max Engine question

Nobody in the flying public will ever get on anything remotely related to a 737 Max again. That's a much more delicate issue than fixing the physical issues. By the time the Max flies again everyone will have moved on the the next Facebook crisis. People care about price and that’s it. As has been ...

Congrats AT pilots indeed... not so much for AC pilots...
Two possibilities I see are (1) AC operates them separately in which case they will expand TS. Win for TS pilots. (2) If AC merges them it will be a big loss for TS pilots, no way ACPA with give them DOH.

When are passengers going to want to get back on that plane? That's the real question.
As someone else said, by the time the plane returns to service people will have moved on to the next Facebook crisis. Also if the airlines make Max seats $25 cheaper than other types they’ll fill the plane

Re: 10 years ago today Colgan Air 3407

At first indication of a stall the Captain pulled back on the controls and kept pulling overriding the stick push. I think he thought it was a tail stall due to ice. Yeah the dude who failed almost every check ride in his career let his auto pilot level him off all the way to the stick shaker and y...

In the past when I’ve had to stay at a non-layover hotel due to irrops and they demanded a credit card, I’ve contacted Crewsked and said we can’t checkin til the hotel gets a cc number. A phone call from the company usually straightens it out.
