Re: Must be a record...3 go-arounds for one flight.
7thirtyseven; Something funny happened with the quoting - I've fixed it. I replied to your comment because it sounds like you are saying that it's not the Westjet pilots responsibility to help keep the wages up at other companies. I'm simply pointing out that the wages at Westjet are based in part o...

Re: Must be a record...3 go-arounds for one flight.
To the pilots who operated that aircraft today and decided to go around for whatever reason know that not all of us here are arm chair quarterbacks. Whatever decisions you faced on that flight must have been difficult to realize that even in VFR conditions the SAFEST and ONLY option to those who ha...

Re: Must be a record...3 go-arounds for one flight.
Just how much experience is sitting in the front of these Encore machines... one has to wonder and be a little concerned. Well, there's at least one Encore crew that I wouldn't want to fly with. They pretty much proved they can't reliably get the airplane on the ground in VFR weather. Wonder how th...

Nope but more money attracts more experienced pilots and more experience makes you a better pilot.matrix wrote:So more money makes you a better pilot?

Re: Must be a record...3 go-arounds for one flight.
As long as everybody is ok 10 go arounds are ok with me Sorry, you got to set the bar a little higher than that. Passengers paying for a professional flight crew deserve better than a couple a guys flailing around until things randomly line up correctly. I know you're just trying to make the point ...

Re: KEN WEBB CRASH PAD YYZ
Well, I did live in one of his cesspools. I stand by what I said. ..and not once did I name him. Sorry the truth hurts Ken. If the place was a cesspool it's because you and the others staying there didn't clean it - try picking up a broom once in a while. Maid service and cleaning is specifically n...

Re: KEN WEBB CRASH PAD YYZ
That man is a crook. Raking in big bucks while providing third world accommodations. Stay the hell away! That is completely inaccurate. I stayed in one of Ken's places for four years and found it to be excellent value. He makes a couple of hundred dollars per month after paying for the rent, cable,...

Re: Another shot accross the bow........
I can hear the arbitrator now....."So let me get this straight, you want to file a grievance against flying that 2 months ago your membership took a vote on to allow?" The poll (not vote) was whether or not to allow the company to begin preparations for a launch of the Sky Regional service. ...

Not a successor but an "acting" MEC chair. The vote will wrap up soon and I expect Bruce will be turfed - there will be an official vote to replace him - he doesn't get to pick his replacement.CanadianEh wrote:Didn't Bruce White appoint his successor?

Re: New TA reached!
Or more likely Calin told the lame duck NC to "pound sand - that's the deal". All speculation of course but if the TA is so solid that it can't be re-negotiated without a vote, then what kind of a 'deal' could it be that is providing no avenue but the 'cement shoes' option for the NC?? Would a forc...

Re: New TA reached!
Latest rumour (from a good source) is that we are going to get to vote anyway - the MEC has apparently decided not to seek changes to the T/A but instead to have a vote - ON THE ORIGINAL T/A WITH NO CHANGES! :x :x There are, apparently, some who think it's just a vocal minority who are opposed and t...

Re: New TA reached!
You don't want to "waste bargaining capitol" on Jazz? Newsflash.. by doing that you would be using it for yourself because you would be one step closer to creating a united front against managment. Sure throw that in the garbage.. give it 5 or 6 years and you will be in a way wore situation, with 5...

The CPA would be cheaper if: A) RM hadn't saddled us with this ridiculous distribution which is now a dividend to boost the IPO price No more 7500ing I promise  The distribution or dividends don't have nothing to do with the CPA costs. The distribution/dividends is what has supported the shar...

Re: New TA reached!
Thomas Cook grievance, Q400 grievance and Sky Regional among the usual ACPA vs Jazz pilot BS :smt075 . The TC grievance and the Q400 grievance are because the pilots think that their contract was broken - how do you see this as a "shenanigan" or somehow directed as an attack against the Jazz pilots...

Re: New TA reached!
I doubt you'll find anyone at Jazz after the shenanigans of the last few months who will say "poor ACPA, maybe we should tell managment we don't want to do this". If ACPA wants an "every man for himself" world than that's what they'll get. I agree with almost everything you said. Not trying to be a...

Re: New TA reached!
Gentle Giant, I fell as though you keep missing the point about Sky Regional, etc. The whole point about wasting bargaining capital on protecting Jazz jobs is pure non-sense, you might have been protecting our wages, which by association protects your wages. You keep mentioning the ratio of regiona...

Re: New TA reached!
ACPA tool a poll. Then they took a vote (MEC). Then they gave a toe tap under the table (Calin) and SKY got the go ahead. Publicly, they said that no deal - no SKY. Then they got a deal and agreed to a ratification timeline that would have the deal approved prior to May 1st (first SKY flight). Then...

Re: New TA reached!
Gentle Giant... Thanks for your response, the point is though there is no current agreement. Only the one that is still in place until you negotiate and agree to a new one. OK, well, semantics I suppose. The old contract continues until a new one is negotiated so I'd call the "old one" the "current...

Re: New TA reached!
Here is an observation humbly from a TOTAL OUTSIDER. :prayer: :prayer: ACPA should simply say to the company, our contract does not allow you to use a carrier to fly from Toronto Island that we do not agree with. We are not saying that you can not use another carrier only that it must be one that w...

Re: New TA reached!
If ACPA strikes, Jazz ALPA will likely not tolerate being used to undermine the legitimate right of the AC pilots to withdraw services. Can the same be said of the non-union AC portfolio carriers who are effectively 'at will' employees? Do you really think that the Jazz pilots would support an ACPA...

Re: New TA reached!
The cost you speak of will only get higher for ACPA when the sole sourcing ends. I have no doubt that the contracting out will increase over time and no amount of "bargaining" will protect you. No scope clause will be enough when CR says "it's Embs elsewhere or another round of CCAA and that means ...

Re: New TA reached!
Lots of Jazz guys have jumped on me but, strangely enough, none have acknowledged the fact that ACPA has been "protecting" their jobs for years - at a "cost" no less. I call b.s. on that one. Protecting the Jazz tier 2 monopoly was not the intent of the clause that requires ACPA to approve any new ...
