Re: Medical Validity?

Correct. Issue date, not expiry date. I said the exact same thing to TC. The question is, when I talked to an AME (Aviation Medical Examiner) they said there is a chance that if your medical was issued before this CARs change date, it will only be valid for 6 months. But issued after this date, good...

Re: Medical Validity?

TBD. Transport has NOT given any guidance yet on how this will be rolled out. Still lots of questions. likely, once official then you will still need to do your 6 month medical that will then become valid for one year. The last thing you want to do is not do your medical in 6 months and become expir...

Re: Was that call for us?

We are one of the only companies in Canada to have FULL approval for ipad's (no paper in the cockpit other than original C of A, C of R, etc); so nope, not going to ban them anytime soon. :)

Re: Air Partners Info

Hello BeechNut87, Best thing to do is apply if you are interested or talk to someone internal if you know anyone. If you don't then PM me and I can answer some of your questions. Pay is typically above average, and turnover has been very low. Most pilots are higher experienced professionals, often c...

Re: Kingair 300 and IATRA

esp803 is correct. The IATRA is a requirement for a TWO crew aircraft. The comments on a high performance aircaft, these aircraft will require a Type Rating, however an IATRA is not required if it is a single pilot aircraft.

Re: Q jets Closing down

Avia Aviation was in that Hangar as well, oh the good old days with the Piaggio Avanti, it was a great company but fell apart fast with some senior management changes (President changes, not the CP or Ops Manager)

Re: West Wind Aviation Salary

Good Afternoon, Like most company’s West Wind Aviation doesn’t share their scales on a public forum. Re: Where is the Chief Pilot?!

You are correct, the CP has a significant role and the Pilots should be coming forward if they are in question or don’t feel right about something. I am a CP, I always tell the pilots that my cell phone is on 24/7 and they can call ANY time. However the CP has a lot of other duties and responsibilit...

Re: Challenges of Managing a Fleet

Well you covered most of it. Yes, all of those are challenges. I am in the flight ops side (not maintenance) but it is all very similar. In a Middle Management position you will have good idea’s or procedures and policies that you would like to implement but most of your day is filled with putting o...

Re: Does anybody know much about West Wind Aviation???

Sometimes you need to agree to disagree. West Wind may not be for everyone, just like Airlines are not for everyone or Corporate is not for everyone, or Transport Canada is not for everyone, etc. What we can all agree on is West Wind Aviation can be a great place to work, and can continue to have gr...

Phone interviews, in person interviews and sim evals have been occurring for selected candidates. West Wind will be continuing to contact individuals for various positions. Only those selected will be contacted.

Hope that helps.

Hello,

Contacted by phone in most cases.

Phone interview to start (if not near Saskatoon), then face to face with CP and HR, then SIM evaluation

Internal references are a plus but not required, many different factors and experience that we look for

Hope that helps.

Check out Saskatchewan, a few of them there. FYI, West Wind Aviation has been doing WAAS approaches (as low as 250 ft) for a few years now and has been a leader in this development in Western Canada.
