OP, I know exactly what you are saying. The most distinctive sounding airliner I've ever heard.
And the first time I sat in one at start up was "wow" inducing.

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton
I think on the day in question it was more of a low pressure system blowing in moisture from the Pacific, which will tend to generate clouds as it blows up the valleys. More dangerous as you will tend to be under the clouds, which could suddenly close up in the valleys. (I'm not a weather forecaste...

What frightens me the most though are the tens of millions of people in the US that elected him. They'll still be there getting progressively more extreme in their views long after Trump is gone, and given the USA's huge economic influence and fearsome military power that's what makes the United St...

It was reported in the Vancouver Sun and CKNW. That was before the identities were known though.

I think it is considered just like an ambulance and charged as such. I saw a poster in an ER waiting room a few years ago stating as much.

Question for RCAF people
My son is in Air Cadets and absolutely loves it. He dreams of a career in the RCAF and I would be interested in any feedback from present or past personnel. Maybe a brief description of your background and path to the Forces, and what you like and dislike. Also maybe what a young person needs to do ...

Re: Won't be long till it's fully entrenched here.
Its usually the individual's parents that fund these sort of things - all for a chance to brag about how their son or daughter flies jets. Does that count as self-funded? This is happening elsewhere too. In Formula 1 there are many pay drivers now. Rich parents are buying drives while top drivers s...

Re: Hiring child-bearing age females
"a bit"?! I guess I must be improving  What I can't figure out is why the government hasn't gotten into the business of licensing and taxing childbirth. They license and tax the crap out of everything else, regardless of any merit of the regulation. One thought: in my experience, over the dec...

FB: I'm sorry you feel that way. ........ I have never regretted and cherish all of my children. That comes off a bit preachy. And having "never regretted..my children" is not the same as not wanting children in the first place. I have children and I have close friends who don't. It isn't for every...

Don't we do the same thing here? I know this isn't called "twitter" but it is called AvCanada and we send our condolences to lost brothers and sisters on here all the time... in the exact same method that Twitter works (via internet connection). Granted we aren't limited by characters on this type ...

Harper, Trudeau, and Mulcair all tweeted thoughts and prayers for Veterans on Remembrance Day.
And for victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.
I see no difference.

Couldn't agree more. "Twitter" is for 12-year-old girls to gossip about boys they have crushes on. Not true. Of all the modern forms of communication, Twitter seems to be one of the most useful. I used to brush it off as kids play, but there is no quicker, far reaching way to communicate these days...

Quite a story, with several passengers having either means or motive.

Nope. Read some of Doc's other posts. You want to get him going, land with your gear up. I get that, I thought he was referring to this post by Big Pistons Forever. A doubtlessly POS ancient King Air is written off and its pilot gets to go home before he hurts anyone at his pay to fly job. It reall...

Re: Skydive King Air lands gear up
I always find it scary hat on some level, some of you think this is Okay? What makes it Okay? It's an older airplane? He paid for the "job"? What exactly makes it Okay to be so bloody stupid as to forget to lower the landing gear? I'm pretty sure that was tongue in cheek, at least that's how I read...
