Re: Camp Picton Airbase for sale
The airport may be closed. But they are preserving some of the history, and its a pretty cool place to go visit. Currently a Lancaster is stored in one of the hangars and open for occasional tours.

Re: Interesting Single Otter Accident
Shouldn't really be cold related. PT6's have been running in the north for a long time. I did have one in the arctic, a long time ago, that decided to accelerate on start to near max. Was probably -35 or so. It had been on floats prior to the ferry north and likely had moisture in the FCU. A new FCU...

STUDY the material and challenge the exam.
You're studying to become an AME's for crying out loud.
What are you all going to do when you get your license's?? Ask around to see if anyone remembers what the AMM says? Or actually read the effing manuals yourself.

Re: KBA Antarctic pay?
There is actually inland tourism, and has been for a long time. Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions (previously ANI). Its one of the companies Borek contracts to. I can't speak to current pay, but I suspect that you can negotiate your wage based on experience. Being someone who I guess doesn't fit a...

Re: Twin Otter Crash May 20, 2023
The Twin Otters I am familiar with used two ferry tanks, and each one gravity fed into the mains, they were plumbed together, but one fed the front and one the aft. I think this is a pretty common system, but i have no knowledge of what this aircraft had. You would burn a bit from the mains (an hour...

Re: S endorsement
Do these AMEs perhaps hold both an M1 and M2, along with an S? In that case i could see how the S may have been issued in error, as combined M1/M2 already hold S privileges. (566.03 (9) info note).
Interesting to find out how TC could otherwise think they were issued in error.

CAR 566 and appendixes are pretty clear on what you need. 48 months total with some credit for school. Typically 18 months credit for school (not correspondence) and another 2.5 years FULL time.
Experience requirements are based on full time work at 1800 hours a year.

Here's another good one. Though they have increased the scale somewhat. look how their "innovative scheduling" of 8 on 4 off allows for 4 months off per year. Do these people not realize that Monday to Friday also gives 4 months off per year also!! 52 weeks x 2 day weekend= 104 days, 9 stat days, an...

Re: FAA STCs on Canadian Registered Aircraft
Since they are all STC's I would report them all. Can't hurt. You can put them all on the same report.
STCs are considered "approved data", which is one of the criteria for a major mod.
STD 571 appendix L gives a sample form.

To try and answer the OP question... You can search AMOs on TC website using various filters. It won't give you private AMEs but its a start. https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/2/CAS-SAC/aooas.aspx?typ=1&GoCTemplateCulture=en-CA You could also try contacting the AME association for the relevant re...

Re: Getting maintenance done in the USA on a commercial aircraft
You can have it done. The repair station needs to have a TCCA supplement to their repair station manual to work on commercial aircraft.
There may be some other stipulations. Check out the bi-lateral and the MIP (maintenance implementation procedures)

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
There's nothing wrong with the north. Doug Gaunt posted the ad. He has tons of experience in the north and far south. I would suspect, as someone else mentioned, that Doug likely appreciates the work ethic and experience working in the north can bring, and is looking for someone who might be looking...

Re: PC12 on condition?
What does your MSA say? You would have to follow the recommendations in the applicable Pratt SB for engine TBO. You might be able to extend 50 hours, and if the overhaul shows nothing abnormal, you MIGHT be able to apply to add some time to your next overhaul. This is how it typically works for twin...

Schedule II only requires the total air time and, where applicable, the number of operating cycles or landings since date of manufacture, at the time of each abnormal occurrence or maintenance action recorded. So no, each daily total does not need to be recorded. It is a common practice though, and ...

You can't just use the IPC from a different model as data. The part being installed has to be effective to the model you're installing it on.
