You dont need to do a checkride to convert the FAA ATP to a TC ATPL. You need a TC medical, write the exam, and submit. For a check pilot do conduct a ride you need to be trained under a TC approved training program.

Yes it can be done. No airspace restrictions. There are a bunch of hoops to jump through though.
