Re: Looking for a ATR 72-600 Examiner

You dont need to do a checkride to convert the FAA ATP to a TC ATPL. You need a TC medical, write the exam, and submit. For a check pilot do conduct a ride you need to be trained under a TC approved training program.

Yes it can be done. No airspace restrictions. There are a bunch of hoops to jump through though.

Re: Anyone here or know someone that worked for Q jets in Calgary?

Re: Recommendations for switch from mineral oil to ashless dispersant

You wont hurt anything to run the mineral oil until you get back from your trip. Where people get into trouble is when they run an engine to 1200-1500 hours on mineral oil then switch. The additives in Ashless Dispersant cause carbon buildups in the engine to break loose plugging passages and oil fi...

Re: General Aviation into YYC

What are you flying? CPS has a couple piston fixed wing aircraft and theres at least one more that flies in and out on a regular basis. Biggest thing is if you can keep up with the flow they likely wont turn you away, but if you're in a 150 doing 60kts 5 miles final you may be making a call after la...

Re: Life Insurance

Hi folks, just wondering if anyone could suggest a life insurance broker who specializes in aviation. Got quotes from the big name insurance companies and they want to charge crazy amounts (3-400/month) for my life insurance because I don't fly for a 705 operation. I've done a search on avcanada an...

Apparently they took the pilot to the hospital for evaluation. Nobody needs any more bad news in the lower mainland right now.

Posted this on a new site I've found www...com but wanted to get your answers here as well. What's the best app for IFR/VFR charts for Canada/USA/Mexico? ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, or Jepp FD? Pros/Cons to them?

And where was the tower during all of this? No thought to have the crew go around when they lined up on the incorrect runway?

Re: Private Operating Certificate. When is one needed?

CBAA's ridiculous comment: 604.03(c) is problematic. The turbine powered aircraft certificated for 6 passengers provision to limit who qualifies as a private operator draws an arbitrary boundary between aircraft types currently in service. For example, it unjustifiably discriminates against Pilatus...

Re: CYMM ILS25 Question

It is giving you the location of PERVA so that you can safely transition onto the approach from the VOR without any type of RNAV/GPS capability as the VOR is not on the ILS track. For whatever reason they're allowing you to descend from the 25NM safe but the PT altitude is too low for obstacle clear...

What's the SE service ceiling on the twin otter? One stove down combined with some mountain wave/downdraft could very well have been enough to push them below the peak's. Having met Bob a couple times and reading everything he's posted on here I have a very hard time believing they were not in some ...

Re: Avantair flys w elevator installed upside down . . . oop

Think about it, a canard moves opposite to an elevator... probably not a silly mistake for someone who fixes lots of 'normal' aircraft. The canard on the Piaggio doesn't have elevators on it, the elevators are on the horizontal stab the same as conventional aircraft. All the canard has is small fla...
