Re: Can Canadians work in europe with an ATPL?
Depends where the plane is registered. There are tax shelter spots that accept a canadian licence where many european aircraft are registered. But the right to work in EU is a totally different thing.

Re: Virgin America cancels Toronto service . . .
We hope to return to YYZ at some point, but in the smaller Toronto-West Coast markets we were not able to stimulate demand as quickly as we would have liked. Cough, cough, cough, bullsh!t, cough, cough, cough. Lifted from Wikipedia: U.S. Census estimates released in 2008 indicated that there were 1...

Re: HID landing lights
You won't notice any difference unless there is a change to the lens as well. If you see some ricer cars that have added them aftermarket and you get the crazy glare and it is because the are using lenses made for regular lights. You often get worse light output by switch to HIDs and not upgrading t...

Pretty sure it is in front of Delta's hangar. My friend who flies for Delta called me a couple days ago asking about who EnerJet was and said one of there planes was parked at his hangar in Atlanta.

Re: Cessna Cardinal 40th Birthday Convention
The cardinal is a sweet little plane. I flew a fixed gear version with 180hp and they are a lot faster than a 172. They are also really light on the controls. You could crank steep turns with just a finger on the controls. Great plane for low level surveillance

Re: Where do you even start?
Steam time isn't bad. I am on my first jet now and I left the glass and FMS of my King Air behind for the steam of my Citation. Honestly once you get over the initial learning curve of the glass it is way easier than steam.

Re: Airborne Energy and NorAlta
I worked there, Airborne, for a long time and still have lots of friends there. It is happening but not finalized yet. Like any deal it could still go south. But for any crews at Noralta that would go with the move, if that is whats happening, you are going to a very good company. I have nothing but...

Re: Holding Bay on Dead End Runway
Could a landing aircraft not wave the 200ft rule for another aircraft. I can't count how many times I have been told there are mowers/construction or other stuff within the 200ft and then asked by tower/fss is this is alright or do I want them moved. And I have never heard any one asking for it to b...

Re: False bankruptcy rumor destroys United Airlines stock value
I think US Airways is the closest to going under. I read an article in one newspaper, can't remember which on, last time I was south of the border and they said US Airways was the closest to bankruptcy. They have started charging for everything lately. You want any drink it will cost you $2. You wan...

Re: How do you register a Call Sign?
Thanks for the info. Great help just wish they would give you a phone number or e-mail address instead of using snail mail. Going to search the Nav Canada website but it seems to be down right now.

Re: Low level flying
I spent my first 2000 or so hours low level on pipeline patrols and wildlife surveys(hence my handle). We generally did the pipeline patrols around 300ft. But there were times when we had to go lower to get a look at something or the survey required it. Anyone considering flying below 500 better kno...

Re: Subaru Outback vs. Honda CR-V?
Subarus are awesome. I have had my WRX now for 3 years and don't think I will be buying any other brand for a long time. In the fall we will be buying the wife a new turbo forester. Go subaru all the way you won't be disapointed.
Edit* Plus the AWD of the Subaru is far far superior.

I totally agree that one professional pilot is better than two cowboys egging each other on. But that's comparing apples to oranges. I also agree that all single pilot certified airplanes can be operated with a very high level of safety with only one pilot. Two well trained, professional acting pil...

I also choose not to do the Aerocourse, I don't need to pay hundreds of dollars for the answers. Weather Command, AIM and various other study references. Was not really that hard, I studied for around 2-3 days for each and scored in the low 80s on both. Good luck. I tell you one thing I am glad they...
