Re: Does a good headset matter?
If I had $1000 extra to spend, I'd definitely go with the new Bose headset. Tried a friend's out, and it was awesome. However, if that's not in your budget....I have a set of DC H20-10s and it's a great headset. The inherent noise cancelling associated with the design of the headset is very good (no...

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Not sure if anyone was really following this thread, but I figured I would post an update for anyone considering LASIK. I got it done on Dec. 16th at the Yonge and Eglinton laser centre, and I can't say enough good things about how professional and caring they were. The procedure itself was seamless...

Re: Average cost of a flight instructor rating?
14k? Wow, that's steep. I did mine in '09 in Eastern Ontario for $8300 in a 172. Not sure if operating costs have gone through the roof in the last 2 years for FTU's. Showing up really well prepared for each lesson will obviously make a big difference. If you're not doing the appropriate studying, k...

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Thank you for the link. However, if you look at the date from that article, it is from 2007. If you refer to the link in av8or_assrope's post, they have amended the rules as of April, 2008. You still basically need perfect vision, but laser correction is allowed.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I'll look into it, but if you have laser eye surgery and your eyesight has been corrected to 20/20 or better, then it doesn't really matter what your eyesight was before hand. I know people who have got into the air force with brutal eyesight before having the procedure done (far worse than mine any...

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm thinking of having it done at the Yonge and Eglinton Laser Centre in Toronto....Heard pretty good reviews on that place. I had a consultation there about a year and a half ago. I was impressed by how it all works. It's one of the most expensive procedures, but it...

Laser Eye Surgery
Hi everyone, I am thinking about getting laser eye surgery (intralase wavefront procedure), and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long you can expect to wait before getting your medical back after the procedure? Transport's website says you have to send them a follow-up report from the opt...

Re: Best technique for remembering correct emergency procedu
I haven't had time to read this whole thread, so forgive me if I am repeating anything people have already stated here :) A big part of memorizing emergencies is being able to understand why you are doing what you are doing. A lot of students will just try to memorize word-for-word what you are supp...

I was also in grade 6. Still remember being shocked by the terrible news.
