Re: TC to suspend license over unpaid $55 fee
A what? A what? A cheque. You know, those small things you write on to transfer money from your account to some other person or company. Jeebus I must be getting old.... Frankly 5 minutes of my time every 6 months isn't enough to get worked up about. Dude you seriously need to read your medical val...

Re: Hangar property taxes
Who owns the land shouldn't make a difference to the taxes, the land owner or leasee pays that. Enclosed T hangar at YYJ, lease, tax and miscellaneous annual fees is $3300/yr. The tax portion for that is $1450. This is calculated on the aggregate value of 30 hangars in one association and then divid...

I know that, but I have paid my dues and that is what I get to do all summer.
4 or 5 hours in YYJ is not going to do you any good, trust me.

Re: Getting some experience before college in September
Save your money. The chances of getting anything fruitful out of it at this point is unlikely. Put the money aside and use it later when you know how best to use it. For example you find your having trouble with nav, now you have the opportunity to go and do some extra work on that subject. Maybe yo...

Re: Aussie Looking to Come to Canada
Alex, My advice, FWIW, stop flying now. Come over here and find a good school to finish your training here. Do an instructor rating with them and impress them every day your there so that when you have finished your training and have spent 20G's with them they give you a job. Get some experience and...

Yes, a valid instructor rating is all that is needed, the entry in the log is quoted from the CAR's.

Re: Flight Crew Recency Requirements Self-Paced Study Progra
Strictly speaking you should carry it with you in case you get ramped. The sad part is the self paced study program asks questions that are so utterly irrelevant to anything that would actually be of value in safely and effectively operating any aircraft that it is a complete waste of time. My advi...

Re: Who is considered a delegate of the CFI?
As CFI I used to do them initially, as it gave me insight into how the students were progressing, how the various instructors were teaching. It also allowed me to see where the work load was and would likely be in the near future. Eventually I managed to get an admin person appointed as an AP by TC ...

Re: Why does Va increase with weight?
Remember a stalled wing has no load, that's why we fall to our doom when we stall. This is just not true. A stalled wing is still generating lift. Not enough to fly level, but we don't necessarily fall to our doom and the wing is still generating lift. http://poisson.me.dal.ca/~dp_04_5/images/foils...

Re: Why does Va increase with weight?
OK. Picture two bleach bottles bouncing around in a choppy sea, one is 3/4 full and the other is empty. The fuller one wallows around where as the empty one gets thrown around wildly. The accelration forces (G) are much higher on the empty one as it is tossed around more. Now in an airplane we can st...

If you can't do it, teach it, if you can't teach it, go into government.
