Re: New low in pilot shortage?

My wages haven't gone up despite my Airline being short of Pilots. Don't expect that to change. I think you are flying in an area where the income is relatively high already I think? I retired from Europe 5 yrs ago, 11 years early :-) Mainline usually is stable for income. Otherwise wages would go ...

You're right. Nurses should make even more.

And here I thought we were talking about real pilot concerns.
Well.....for the real pilots here is how you put them in the drink.

Re: Working for airlines sucks what else should I look into

I had a few times that I was VERY unhappy with my job. Every time it turned out I was relativizing it the wrong way. Sense of entitlement. Time later, months, maybe years, it turns out I was wrong (don't tell my wife-she still believes I am always right) Every job you will run into yourself after a ...

Not an answer, but interesting I thought:

I used zopiclone for years and besides the bitter taste I found the short term memory loss was the biggest bugger.
Zolpidem was a good alternative.

Re: Crab or sideslip landing on big jets?

that was my airplane :) I usually put a wing down a bit or a slight combination. Sitting left somehow the sideslip seemed easier with the wind also from the left. With a decrab you really have to be careful as your upwind wing comes forward. I took over the controls once on the 737 when the fo didn'...

Re: Cell Phone and Jeans destroyed on Air Canada Flight

If one can get $8000 or whatever for not being served in french then you should be able to live on easy street after you present the guy who got drunk on the flight due to the fa's serving him too much booze.
good luck :)

Are you saying Joe does not keep his airplanes up to airworthiness standards?
You are overdosing on rhetorical questions.

Re: Closing YXD proves to be the right move again

KLM YEG not yet approved by Delta.
When it is approved AF will start YVR and KLM will reduce to 5 days in summer and 4 in winter for YVR
The YEG flight is not available on the time table yet.
When the flights do go to YEG, look for the crews at Starbucks in W.E. mall :P

Conversion from fixed wing to rotary

I am retiring next year and would like to get my helicopter's license. (atpl conversion) From the quick reading I have done it would cost about $30k? I read a couple of older posts on the site. Any more tips? Recommendations on where to do it in the Okanagan? I think it would be nice to get me out o...

(Using the Geo Nova gps display)
For your comfort and safety all your electronics must be turned off or a side slip may occur and a "khhhhhhhhh" noise from the jet engines.
Erratic auto throttle behaviour is also a possibility, which could result in an impressive landing.

In Shanghai, China, they can put a reading thingy on your own sunglasses or buy real copy sunglasses which they modify with a reading part in any strength.
Takes a bit getting used to but it does work. Less than $20.
