Re: Career change to pilot

Your world is your oyster. You can go wherever you want. Plan it out, work to make it work, and wait patiently... I have seen teachers, nurses, career change to pilot. And people career change from pilot to teacher, police, nurse, etc... look into your self. Your values, lifestyle, goals. Do you wan...

If you want to work in the US, you need to have a right to do that. First off, like others have said. What kind of right to live/work do you have for the United States? I doubt there are any US companies sponsering pilots to attain a work permit. If the US does decide to sponsor pilots, Canadians wi...

The US has so many air force squadrans: USAF USN USANG USARMY. You can't really compare Canada to the likes the US plays... I have no doubt that Moose47 is probably telling the truth.

Re: TC to FAA licence conversion

Does the ATPL (ACM) conversion exam convert the IR rating as or do we have the write the ICP (instrument) as well? I called the FAA in Oaklahoma they said yes. Then I called the FSDO I selected for my verification and they said only the ACM exam is required and that will include the instrument... Co...

Horizon in the U.S.? Are you American? If so; Airlinepilotforums.com would have a lot of info. You would need the right to work in the states and FAA ATPL. These days the only other requirement to work at a regional in the states is to have a heartbeat and a will to make a very low salary...

Re: Flying for a Canadian versus American airline

Similar situation, however I'm less experienced; therefore I'm at the regional level. It seems Canada would be the better option in terms of pay and QOL I'm leaning towards Jazz/encore but wondering if I should consider the american carriers like envoy/endeavor and then make the move to major/LCC l...

Hey DanWEC, I have been fairly lucky with my progression, which I'm grateful for. My perception of this industry has changed quite a bit in the past few years. Worked the ramp for a few months, (went right seat within a year) currently a b200 driver and expecting to be left seat soon. Anyways, I end...
