Re: will there be a repeat of 1991-95 ?
Tokyo, Mumbai, Rio, you name it, can have people connect through Canada. Do you really think the money is in flying from Regina to Calgary? No. It’s the business class passenger who flew from Santiago to London via YYZ Like no Business class pax would likely do that….Can fly to London direct….from ...

Re: So, years ago......
....we had a contract clause that stated that ALL new hires start off in one of two positions. One was 50 seat RJ FO, the second was Relief Pilot. There was ZERO capacity for the Company to train a brand new pilot into any other position. This was done so that anyone who was currently holding a pos...

Re: “I compete in Canada, so I need to be competitive in Canada,” - Mike Rosseau
The biggest change since the transition from ACPA to ALPA has been the messaging. ACPA was a voice from management to the pilots. ALPA is the voice of the pilots to management. Leadership from the top down has been completely unresponsive and doesn't seem to comprehend the shift in the employee rela...

Re: YYC Base
So much for the ‘temporary’ nature of the PAL CPA. Seems like uniform is planning to challenge the federal labour law about the right to follow the work for the same pay, hopefully they are successful! Good! Maybe if all the unions make ACs management's life miserable, and the board starts asking q...

Re: Airline Career
TPC, maybe my post is outdated. My experience was that I barely flew 30 hours a month as a medevac pilot but was routinely able to bump up to CARs limits in the 705 world in my time building days.

Re: Airline Career
If your goal is to be an airline pilot I would avoid going to a medevac operator as you likely wont fly as much as you would at a 705 operator. If you're currently logging PIC time just keep applying to Encore, Porter and Jazz. Complete your ATPL as soon as you can and upgrade and upgrade as soon as...

Re: Air Canada slashing routes out of Calgary in face of ongoing pilot shortage
I'm honestly starting to get concerned that this will be used to review or explore the opening of cottage rules. That is the last thing the airlines want. And all the unions would argue it needs to come with the ability to work for US airlines. Won't happen. I certainly hope it doesn't happen. I ju...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Imo it'll continue for a little while yet. Still lots of 220s to arrive, followed by the NEOs if that ever happens. dont forget the XLRs I think that's what he meant. The XLR's are NEO aircraft. Any talk of 320 NEO's is just a rumor for now. Thought it would be nice to upgrade the aged 320 fleet. C...

Yes, I was referring to the Senior VP of Flight Ops. However I think you are referring to the Managing Director - Flight Operations. He’s not called a VP of Flight Ops in my Flight Ops directory. Or …. are we thinking of yet a third person? Just two people, the former Managing Director has recently...

You guys are talking about different people, the Senior VP is who Crewbunk is referring to. The newly promoted VP FOPs was an MEC member, who after being recalled by the membership in the TA1-FOS era, went into management. Yes, I was referring to the Senior VP of Flight Ops. Re: Denying Overtime
Flight Ops management needs to come to recognize that they are not simply dealing with a stubborn MEC (or MEC Chair) that they can't sell their agenda to and help them manage low expectations, but rather, a group of Union leaders who are representative of a pilot group that are fed up with the statu...

Re: Air Canada Pilots Pull Out
Maybe I am wrong. But I don't believe management has any intension of showing its pilot value without being forced. Unfortunate. But hey that is just how this game seems to be played all the time. Unfortunately I think we can all see that you’re not wrong. AC management only see’s their side of the...

Re: Wide body with no former jet-time
The role of flat pay is to ensure junior pilots don’t earn more than those senior to them due to the equipment they’re assigned on their PIT course. For example, the class starting this past week could only be offered RP positions, while the class later this month may have FO positions available. If...

Re: Is WestJet an essential service, where the government can mandate striking pilots back to work?
Air travel didn't shut down for covid. There was lots of work to do on the freight side. Had all flying in Canada actually shut down it would cripple the economy. The reason porter could shut down with no impact is the passengers they serve no longer required travel during the plandemic. That is a ...
