Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)
Constructive speculation is great, but that's not exactly what all this has been. We have found out that the pilot was 41... previous posters were up in arms about how the operator threw a 20 something year old guy to the wolves by bullying him into flying into unsafe weather. At 41 years old you sh...

Re: Buying Safety....$$$$$?
Could not agree more about the no wiggle room on a single pilot ifr machine. Yes 70k and 40k seem a little high to me but I would love it if that was the case. What are low time guys supposed to do if they can't get a right seat job in a HO? This is what i'm stuck on. Why is it that you don't believ...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)
So someone got into North Spirit a VFR only airport with no published approaches at 1300 CST to medevac the survivor out. According to the GFA that has been posted on this thread for 1800Z, that would have been a far worse time for wx. Could it be that the WX was localized? That the GFA was wrong? o...

Re: Buying Safety....$$$$$?
True. It does seem like this comes down to clients/customers being willing to pay. I just have a hard time accepting that a low time guy is incapable of flying to a proper standard while ensuring flight safety especially when you have an experienced (and well paid :D) captain in the seat next to him...

Re: Buying Safety....$$$$$?
70k and 40k in a chieftain? With the proposal of only putting guys into the aircraft with 500pic and 100 on type for a float gig. For the 172 or? For the first 2-5 years that this system would be implemented no guys with less then 500 pic or 100 hrs time on type lot's of guys would be outta a job un...

Thanks environment Canada. Sorry Nav Can.
Just curious, who`s call is it on airfield WX reporting equipment and where trained weather observers are stationed?

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (5 dead)
I got 1000 from the cadors, trenton confirmed the elt went off around then. the 0715 dept time I got from the news, wich is why I wrote reported in my post. once again I'm just trying to point out that we know little about the facts. Maybe Keystone doesn't have the best culture, I have no idea mysel...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (5 dead)
So much we don't know, so much speculation Left YWG 0715 went down in KQ3 at 1000..... 2h45??? 90kt groundspeed? Some residents say there were blizzard conditions and couldn't see in front of their faces. A resident says they saw the plane make a sharp bank. One resident says it was so bad they foun...

I'll be heading out on a job search soon and was wondering if any of you have a couple free minutes to PM with me and offer some advice that is a little more specific to me with regards to the suggestions you have already made. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Bobby, maybe I shot myself in the...

Re: College of Pilots
Maybe I'm way off base here, but I'm going to take a stab at it. To those who have continually spoken about the "hidden agenda" or back room dealings with which they assume the college would operate.... What exactly do the 705 pilots have to gain out of the college besides improved industry safety a...

Re: Medevac ops/duty times
The MB medevac operators have changed the duty/reset periods. TC did a little house cleaning with regards to Duty/reset and online training (aerostudies) a month or two back in MB. Changes came about a little while before fast had to take some guys offline for online training.

Re: Ornge-The truth is emerging (finally)
In Winnipeg STARS had a mobile office trailer parked out front of the Kelly Western that is no longer there as of a week ago or so. Have not noticed their machine on the ramp since the trailer left either.
At least i'm pretty sure the trailer was STARS (95%)

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
Good lord.... Who knows if the poster is a commercial pilot or not? This has nothing to do with what a professional pilot should look like but I'm sure that would be a great thread too. The poster simply asked where to find those items, didn't sound like they asked what you thought about anyone who ...

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
Aviation is not a fashion statement. Real pilots are recognized by good airmanship, good decision making skills, situational awareness, professionalism, anticipatory behavior and confidence (but not cockiness) - none of which can be purchased or worn. The best pilots often don't look like pilots at...

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
PC, I am cheery! :smt040 I'll apologize to snoop for my ill humor in my first post, was probably a result of spending a couple hours trolling around the forums working myself into a rabid frenzy. I do believe she was a little more patronizing then was required. As a younger guy on here, I've witness...

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
Yes I understand the disdain from the community for newly appointed pilots to show up at the watering hole wearing their 3 gold bars proudly, or the kid who goes and gets a set a wings tattooed on his chest after his/her first solo. I don't understand why one would have to hijack a thread about wher...

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
Oh, and Snoopy, if folks want to wear "aviation oriented" garb, WTF? +1 Never thought I would see someone belittled for wanting to find out were they can buy a decent watch and a retro jacket..... I don't own either but it seems very silly to tell someone else how they should spend their money and ...

Re: Pilot vs. Doctor Pay
Doctors bury their mistakes, pilots bury themselves. What do you call the last in his class at medical school? .....Doctor I'm aware of more then a few who didn't have the grades to enter medical school in country and instead "paid" for their degree outside of Canada and returned after to become doc...
