Re: Support For Tony
The unfortunate thing about this for Tony is that, had he not been so proud of his actions and broadcast it to the world, his career might not be in jeopardy. I cannot imagine anyone would hire him after a reference check with Air Canada. It's comments like this that make me even more concerned. "n...

Support For Tony
Although I am not a fan of how Tony conducted himself in his recent video, I am now very concerned about the Pilot's DB pension at Air Canada. In the video, Tony spoke of how the Union is corroborating with the Company to secretly give up (or hand over) a portion of our pension. It is concerning bec...

Aviation is dead in Canada for the next few years. Who in their right mind is going to step up and buy a company that has no hope of revenue for the foreseeable future?

Re: Recall timeline
The reality is that... The covid vaccination is being reported as possibly being available this time next year. So, in reality, possibly early 2022; and then will go to front line workers first, and will probably not make it's way through a good portion of the world population until the end of 2023....

Re: Where to RON in Haneda
My son and I are planning to go there on a holiday soon. Hence, we would need a room with two beds. Any recommendations for a downtown hotel? Are the rates you are quoting per person, or for two, or is there an additional cost to have another person in your room? We are not picky, and will be essent...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Once you get your monthly schedule, your days off are yours to do what you like. There is an "expectation" that the remaining open flying will be covered by volunteers, and I think that they won't have any problem covering that flying. There always seems to be people willing to fly for the right inc...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Socialized bidding is a fair share system, and is used at rouge for both vacation and monthly schedule. Everyone in your category (seat you hold) is given points each month for bidding their schedule. You place a portion, or all, of your points on whatever you want to do for any particular month - d...

Re: Air Canada Pool
I think I read on a previous post or thread that if you bid Rouge you are frozen there for 2 years before you can bid back to Mainline Almost, but not quite correct. Once you bid and are trained at rouge (pilots in first 4 years notwithstanding; applies to anyone not on first 4 year freeze) you can...

Looks like the rumour may be wrong. According to the GCM this afternoon, AC still plans on hiring 10 new pilots every month or second month.

Re: Air Canada Pool
It's a pretty strong rumour that makes sense. The company expected 120 retirements this year; there have only been 10 (more pilots want to fly beyond age 60 than expected). Aircraft courses are being cancelled with as little as a weeks notice. If the current trend of little to no retirements persist...

Re: Another slap in the face
The flight line talk is just that, it can be devoid of reality when there are just two of you talking for hours at a time while flying. I know what you are saying, but apparently it was true enough for the "NO" vote to win the day. As an aside, many were saying that they couldn't vote YES simply be...

Re: Another slap in the face
Counterpoint, The talk on the flight line was that either we were going to recoup our 30% pay cuts, or the vote would be NO. The rationale was that the Pilot pay was a very small percentage of the overall budget, and that management wasn't taking pay cuts but were still wasting money in other areas....

Re: Another slap in the face
Counterpoint, Why didn't the MEC and NC keep the membership informed of what may be coming down the pipe during the negotiating process and resultant release of TA1? If you recall, the membership were fully expecting to recoup ALL of the concessions given in the previous 10 years. Hence, TA1 was a h...

Re: Equipment Bid
Historically what happens is that many move off the EMB F/O seat to the A320 or wide-body RP spots, or stay on the EMB but move location. Therefore, there are always many EMJ F/O seats available in YYZ, and hence the new course gets slotted into these seats. However, I think it's important to note t...

Re: A New Leaf
Management want to believe that the Pilot's will "get over it". I don't think that this will be the case. I have never been divorced, but I have heard that this process has been much like a divorce. And, how many divorced men have gotten over being raked-over-the-coals by their ex-wives - I suspect ...

Re: Anything Positive about a low cost?
That's why most of us working here laugh at those disgruntled pax that go on CBC and state, "I will never fly with this airline again." We (and the execs) know that if you drop the price of a seat by 50 cents and offer another bag of stale pretzels, that same person will be back next year.

Re: Question For Ray and Over 60
It appears that the landscape may change dramatically. If the EMJ & 319 fleet are stripped from mainline, there will be approx 1000 - 1400 layoffs. The remaining 1600 pilots will not be able to sustain the pensions of those already collecting an annuity. Are your membership aware of these eventualit...

Question For Ray and Over 60
Ray and Over 60, Just wondering, and would like to ask a legitimate question: With all the happenings lately at AC, do you guys really want to return? The airline isn't the same as when you left. There are changes coming to the pension, therefore, if you return you would give up your "grandfather" r...

Re: Air Canada and their taxi speed
I know things are a little tense at AC, and some pilots are feeling slighted, but, could you please stop the nonesense of taxing at 8 knots in places like YVR and YYZ where you have almost 2 miles of straight taxiway. When you get a line of planes behind you it is time to pick up the pace. Thanks. ...

Two weeks is the min standard for Canada. What you will get at AC is two weeks plus nine days of statutory holidays, for a total of 23 days. If you want you can string (bid) all 23 days in a row.
