Re: The next PML wave
What incentive was there for the senior guys to go over to AC? Not much from where I sit. Good thing for Air Canada that there was a large number of middle of the pack guys who would still have a lengthy enough career at AC to make it worth their while. It was a genius plan devised by a genius busin...

Re: Air Canada Flow
Once the Pml is exhausted, AC will be hiring 80% from all the "express" carriers and 20% from the street. The 80% though from the Express brand will be made up based on the number of pilots at the respective companies. So for example, if Jazz makes up 80% of the Express brand (pilot wise) then they ...

Re: Any hiring news??

As for hiring news, our VP of flight ops told me last week in groundschool that we have course dates set up every 2 weeks for the foreseeable future. They are expecting the flow through to AC to be fast and furious and hiring at Jazz will follow suit. [/quot...

Arcardia, There is currently a unique situation happening. Because of all the time constraints (March 9th course date using pilots from a Jazz PML that has yet to be finalized), some pilots at Jazz are being called and just asked if they could come for an in...

Re: Any hiring news??
I would advise that if you are interested in flying for Jazz then put your resume in now and keep it updated. Even if the ink on your licence is still wet. The requirements are going to be very fluid over the next decade at all companies. With ACs projected hiring of 1000+ over the next 10 years (as...

If you are offered a position, you have 3 options. 1) Take the job. 2) Decline the job and take the FIP (top-up pay) and leave both Jazz and AC, 3) Decline the job and return to Jazz at the New Hire Payscale. Some of the guys close to retirement will be choosing option 2). A...

For those in the pool, there might be a ray of hope. There have been calls going out already to the Jazz guys on the PML for an interview for a March 9th start date. How is this good news you ask. Be patient, I'm getting there. One of our guys that was contacted was asked if he was interested in sta...

I know it would be a guess, but what has it been typically in the last while. Or let me ask it this way. What percentage of any given list does the reserve positions amount to? Thanks.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
15 years at a company sounds like you should be living the high life. But I assure you that is not the case at Jazz. The 15 year guys might be in jeopardy of losing left seats in this next CA if there isn't more than meets the eye. 15 year plus captains are junior guys on reserve working all holiday...

New fuel for the Q400 rumours
REUTERS August 03, 2009 (Reuters) - Bombardier Aerospace, the planemaking unit of Canada's Bombardier Inc, said it received a firm order for five Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners valued at about $159 million. The Montreal-based Bombardier Aerospace said the airline, which has requested to remain und...

Re: Encouraged by Cal??
Al707, The reason why some of the Jazz employees have their backs arched when you make comments about AC paying too much for Jazz's services is this. Jazz unit holders might have collected $1 per unit off the payments made by AC, but how much did the employees collect out of that 122 million? Oh wai...

JAZZ Q4 Results
Are there any accountants out there who dicifer all the mumbo jumbo of the Q4 results? What I really want to know is did we make piles of money for the investors once again or are they going to cry wolf for the negots coming up. I am sure the latter will happen regardless, but just curious if they w...

"I know a few people who've been hired with no ATPL and way less than 1500h...they just had quality hours." OK, OK. So I got my chain pulled. I thought the AC and Jazz pilots were all on the same side. Wait till I deadhead on my next AC flight. The rumour mill pool will be deepened again.

Jazz Q400 rumour again
Has anyone else heard or read about this. Today we had an AC pilot ride with us from YUL-YOW. He said that there was an article in the Globe and Mail today quoting Joe Randall saying Jazz is getting Q400s. Anyone or were we had?

Re: Jazz Aircraft
You may be right to say that AC could repossess the aircraft, but I would think they would more likely waive that option and the aircraft would be available to be leased by Jazz or any other company. I mean what would AC do with RJs and Dashs.

Re: Past woes prepare Air Canada for fuel crisis: ACE
I believe everything that comes out of Miltie's mouth is a sales pitch. He's a damn good salesman at that. I give him credit. I believe AC will feel the crunch just as much as everyone else. Will they survive, sure. The government can't have the flagship carrier go tits up just before the most inter...
