Re: Flying to honor vets - WarBird checkout video series par
G'day I was at RCAF Station Centralia when the first Chippies arrived in 1956 from RCAF Station Claresholm. NATO pilot training was near its peak at the time in Centralia. While I was there (54-57) we had 159 Harvard Mk. 4's, 29 Expeditors and 6 Dakotas. During the night you would invariably hear t...

Well, I suppose your rebuttal is fair and I won't fully defend Hedy Lamarr, he certainly was being a catty bitch. You should have chose the high road. Say la V-12/harrumph I guess. Keep on having fun. Heh, yeah... But you did kinda ask for me to rebut ;) And in my defense, It's been months, and thi...

Re: Flying to honor vets - WarBird checkout video series par
Chipmunk is a delightful little airplane. Probably one of the easiest tail draggers out there. The wide wing mounted gear makes take offs and landings a breeze. Much easier than the other BCATP trainers. It also rolls beautifully and has almost aerobatic feeling ailerons. The vis is spectacular in ...

Re: Flying to honor vets - WarBird checkout video series par
Though it was not mentioned I suspect they used it. They just made a point to state they did not check it during the run up. Schtephan, comment/clarification? I'm getting jelly here, maybe I never should have got this job with the strict no facial hair policy. I had to google "getting jelly"... Nev...

1st time Ski Flying - Super Cub - awesome video!
I was so stoked to get the chance to do this; a couple buddies came out to help shoot from the ground with D-SLRs and I was already planning to rock 3 goPros, so I got a pile of great footage with multiple cameras! I couldn't be happier with the results of this video - both for my own review and to ...

Re: Any pilots here know what to do with a fearful passenger
I'm assuming these are your videos. Well done indeed! Would love to know how you have set up the cabling connections so you get full ATC comm along with great video footage from the GoPro. Thanks Cool thnx. I am still working out the bugs with regard to a consistent way to get good quality audio wh...

Any pilots here know what to do with a fearful passenger?
Me neither, apparently! :? This was a humbling experience for me! - She was WAY more afraid than I thought, and it was a real challenge to try to keep her calm. This was the first time I failed to impress a passenger with how awesome flying is... (and it was a perfect night for flying, so it isn't l...

awesome thnx guys.
I started shooting the videos simply for self analysis purposes, but it is rewarding if anyone else gets something out of my sharing them.

Re:
Is your forward looking camera inside? It looks like it's on the wing but probably only due to how you have placed the panel on screen. Yes, my forward facing cam is in the top corner of the windshield - it "almost" feels like it is outside. image quality suffers a little shooting through dirty / s...

Re:
The go pro hides yaw very well. I noticed when you went into a slip it did not change as much as I expected visually. Yes, the wide lens dampens movement, and especially yaw - it also makes you look lower than you actually were. In this case, the yaw is more obvious when I come out of the slip and ...

Re: Online "virtual ride along" Flying videos; edited or not
I am not good at editing yet, got to work on the go pro and sound sync as well. I used the music until I figure that part out. I'll trade you editing lessons for guitar lessons :P I wanna learn to play Bass - I have an electric guitar and a nice 5 string bass that I bought to keep around for jammin...

Re: Online "virtual ride along" Flying videos; edited or not
A little editing cant hurt, the only thing that drives me crazy is when people replace the soundtrack with terrible music. Especially when its one of 5 or so cliche 'aviation' related songs. Remember, any aircraft engine sounds better than kenny logins I totally hear that! I had a good sound design...

I'm not sure if any of the options fit my opinions... 48 minutes, "Squirrel!" is extremely long for a video on the internet... I thought I covered all the options, but fair enough. And yes, "Squirrel!" made me LOL. It seems the majority want shorter videos, which I tend to agree with… But there is ...

80+ thread views currently, but only 9 votes in the poll - seriously? 90% of you guys don't care to even click on the poll? Sheesh :P Anyway - interesting that of the 9 votes 33% claim not to watch amateur flying videos at all. I tend to agree with that in theory, but I often end up watching videos ...

Online "virtual ride along" Flying videos; edited or not?
I've been enjoying flying with multiple GoPros, shooting the view + panel and recording the intercom / ATC audio. I started out shooting them for my own post flight debriefing purposes… A few months ago I started publicly posting my "self analysis videos". My format has been to edit the videos down ...

Re: Kickstarter: Canadian made, <$600 control loading sim yo
looks awesome - hope it works out. I am doing some IFR training in a RedBird FMX, and as great as the "full motion" aspect of that sim is, the control feel SUCKS! trimming is near impossible with out feedback. I would love to see this sort of thing in the RedBird. For those that have't seem one, the...
