I think it (dropping Calgary/Vancouver) has to do with the fact that Canjet cannot attract and train pilots fast enough to keep up with the new charter contracts. Therefore they have to drop the longer domestic routes in order to position a/c for the charters. They could order more a/c but there wou...

737mach When you go to work on monday do you pack a lunch for the next 4 days and keep it with you all the time? On top of that if I get called in and don't have time to pack a lunch I don't have the option of going next door to get a bite. I know that I have not abused the privelege of having a sn...

There have been cards signed for both unions (ALPA and CUPE) by the pilots and FA's. Pilots were over 90% in favour and the union should be certified as a bargaining agent by the Labour Board in the near future. I believe the FA's are at the same stage.

At this point your'e commited to landing, why not just shut down the engine and decrease the risk of fire once on the ground instead of going through this horseshit?

The 737-500's are all leased, and if Westjet were to buy out Canjet those leases would probably be cancelled. Canceling those leases would no doubt cost them but that would be factored into the cost of aquisition vs the cost of going head to head with Canjet and trying to take their market share. In...

I feel bad for the guys that were laid off and had no other option than jetsgo however for guys that left decent jobs to fly for jetsgo I have no sympathy, especially after reading quotes like this from guys who paid $30,000 because they were relativley inexperienced and did not want to pay their du...

They yqx company initially hired 3 guys from Lab Air, but 2 were recalled by Lab Air after a short time and were then layed off again a few weeks later. The company in YQX filled their spots in the meantime. I don't think the son is a menace, I think some poor decisions were made that cost people th...

PAL is getting rid of the wet lease, however they will be keeping the aircraft (or getting another one) and crew it with their own pilots. It is possible that Pal is cutting back on some flying, but i doubt it. Like Fullflap said most of us have probably embarrased our father at some point in our li...

butcher is right. They lost the air canada yyt-yqx contract and have also lost most of their passengers on other runs to PAL. The have gone from 16 beech pilots in YYT to 4 in a short time. I heard that the son was let go from his position so hopefully they might be able to stop their downward spiral.

I was also in that line up (#14 to takeoff from 06L). Georgian was outside the FAF when they got the RVR. They were cleared to land but its up to the crew to initiate a missed at the FAF or continue the appproach. I believe they continued and initiated a missed at minimums (based on one of the georg...
