Re: L1011
Funny you mention Capt Abend....picked up a copy of Flying magazine the other day and it contained an account of his last line flight. Used to get a chuckle of watching Delta operate their 1011s in LGA as well..taxxing around at 20 kts!!!

Re: Commuter hotels YYZ
I am not actively commuting right now, but used to use the TL as well [stayed there the day before the rate hit $129]..there doesn't seem to be any hotels willing to accommodate commuters anymore..Hotwire might be to blame for this.

Re: Sunwing and Foreign pilots again
This is ridiculous...why would anybody try to justify non residents coming to this country to take jobs that could be filled by residents?!!!! Doesn't anybody remember how hard it was breaking into the next level of flying?? This industry is tight enough for pilots trying to gain experience without ...

I always get a chuckle when the complaints start re:AC service- it goes something like "I had a bad flight with them in 1984..I'll never fly with Air Canada again"

Re: Flow control delays.
Possibly something like a military area went hot [offshore area restriction] or activity at Cape Canaveral. I have had departures out of MCO delayed due sequencing for northbound traffic from the south...very high density, lots of airports, lots of traffic.

Speed after leaving the hold
Hi guys...this question deals with speed after leaving the hold. Not sure if this varies from one terminal to another but lets use YZ. With 33 ops, we sometimes get issued a hold. After slowing to clean speed and holding, do you expect us to maintain the holding speed or revert to 250 once cleared o...

I had heard from a person in the management structure at Air Canada that the co. was not involved in the program anymore. This conversation was around the first week of December.

Re: Sunwing Pilot Licensing
So the foreign guys are already type rated and do a short course for Sunwing's operation. Sunwing could hire Canadian pilots and train them but it is cheaper because the foreign guys are already endorsed on the specific aircraft type. I am not sure how this complies with the TFW program [supposedly ...

Re: Sunwing Pilot Licensing
I know, here we go again, but if the training for the FLVC is the same as a Canadian guy off the street, what is the advantage for Sunwing?? Is the pay for the FLVC pilots that much cheaper than the regular line guys??

Sunwing Pilot Licensing
This has probably been discussed before, but what training do the FLVC pilots and wet lease pilots undergo before they start flying in Canadian airspace with Canadian passengers?? Do they have ground school, simulator training and a validation ride with Transport Canada? I am curious wrt to SMS and ...

"Have any of the TFW pilots for Sunwing arrived yet ? Anyone know ?"
Judging by the foreign accents with Sunving callsigns on YUL Atc, I'd say yes.

Re: Any foreign licensed pilots flying in Canada before 1998
I believe City Express brought over some pilots from Arkia [Israel] to fly the Dash 7 as there weren't any endorsed Canadian pilots on type. This would be 1984. One is now a TC inspector.

Happy and relaxed..no paranoia about being on an open ramp around an a/c..I remember arriving at the yqt aiport, cutting through the ticket counter, out onto the ramp and up the airstairs or when the commisionaire would open the bypass door for you without even batting an eye at your mot pass.
