Re: Oh My, another uppity Speedbird pilot
BA is known for this kinda stuff. I was up in ORD control tower the other day for a tour and the sup told me they call them Big Ass Whiners (BAW).

Re: Air India ground crew sucked into engine
Lol I thought the "sacrifice to the gods comment" was kind of funny... Based on what little I know of aviation reporting, chances are that it was the pilots powering up the engine to begin taxiing while someone was standing in the way. Yes, you're right they SHOULDN'T be standing in a position where...

Current - 767
Bucket list - anything with floats on it. May also try bidding over to the 747 when my seat lock expires.
Dream job - fedex or current of the contract improves

None of which are legitimate or sound reasons to dislike the man. The ridiculous media fueled Harper hate has made your country look ridiculous.

Because we can't afford the snake oil he's selling. Nonsense. What are you really afraid of? Don't argue with this guy. He doesn't get it. At least my American dollar will continue to get stronger as your dollar plummets over the next 5 years! It'll help me pay my loans (which are in Canadian $$) o...

Re: Keystone Navajo Accident in Thompson
It's surprising they managed to start up, run up, taxi, take off, and fly for 3 minutes before the lines ran out of AvGas considering it is Lighter than JetA. Plus the wing broke off and all lines attached to the engine were severed yet no fire!!! I know JetA isn't as explosive as AvGas but lets ho...

The YTH Esso is where people who get fired from their previous jobs go to work.
That's not a joke either, unfortunately.

Re: Keystone Navajo down in Thompson.
My company bought one of Keystone's old Navajos. Plane flies fine, I've probably got 50 hours in in already. It has been torn apart by our guys and inspected, all was well more or less... But the thing that made me laugh when it showed up was they had this bent sheet metal jobber that was bolted on...

Re: Keystone Navajo down in Thompson.
Do you mean "derate" as in drawing a new, lower red line on the gauge, or do you mean they somehow modify them so they can't make it to full MP? If it's the latter, is it done with manufacturer approval or an STC? I mean that they limit it below max MP. As it so happens it seems like the airplane w...

Re: Keystone Navajo down in Thompson.
Early speculation I am hearing is that there was some kind of engine issue and the aircraft had to turn around on departure to try and land. Obviously it didn't make it. Press reporting Icing apparently as a factor though I do not know what the temperature was. I'll save my judgement on that one. I ...

I Park my car in the old keewatin lot on Allen Dyne. There is grass along the road that some old cars are parked in. Perimeter used to tow cars there. It seems to be totally unused and unmonitored. It's a 10 minute walk to the terminal from there. Do so at your own risk, however! I always kind of wo...

Re: Need Info about Thompson Manitoba
JBI really eloquently summed it up. It's not a horrible place to be and can be fun if you make the most of it. I'll just add to his post, that at no time did I ever feel unsafe in YTH. Even when I was walking alone in the middle of the night past the TI. When it comes to the First Nations, most of t...

I echo what has been said above. Now that I've been in the industry long enough you'd have to come after me with a knife to make me pay you a cent for my training. And if you offer me a bond to sign I'm laughing and saying "no thanks!"

who cares? I used to make 60 k as a metro captain and now make 25k at a US regional. But I'll tell you what, despite the bad pay and marginal benefits, I have never enjoyed the quality of my life, work, and people I am around so much as I do now. Money is just a thing, at the end of the day. Yet peo...

JIB, Just a small point…yes we may all be, from time to time, a little complacent at work. The battle has been ongoing for years to combat that very thing. Is it not almost always true that in situations like these, (JB) our training is said to take over? There are dozens of interviews out there al...

I'm sorry but if there is smoke in the cabin and I am not sure where it is coming from...I'm getting out as soon as we slow to 20kph or less. Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
JBS, neither of us are experts on JetBlue's internal operations. You do know they're alive and well up front, they just landed the plane after all! Evacuating without direction from the cockpit is incredibly dangerous and should only be done in very serious circumstances (i.e. visually on fire or th...

Re: How many people travel with no luggage?
Whenever people are shopping for airfare they are in "defense mode." Defend every cent in their wallet! When the lowest fare is $247, they want to pay $247 and not a dollar more! So to see other fees, including baggage fees, added in drives them nuts. If people would change their mindset from "Cost ...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
So now we have JB passengers opening emergency exits on their own and evacuating without any command? I wonder if the engine was still running? My good friend who works for JB said that the Cabin Crew feel they are in command of the passenger cabin and have blown slides after a return for a problem...
