Okay, well I guess I would have lost that bet.

Re: Twin otter on the ice

I expect we'll see a resumption of slamming of the RCAF in this thread in roughly T-24 hours. Hahahahahah. Like the other day when the Twin didn't cancel his IFR 10+ miles out on a severe clear day and made us old short and not take off? Not sure how that is relevant to this thread but nope, not ev...

Re: Twin otter on the ice

I remember that back in the day, 402 Squadron put their Twin Otters on wheel skis in the winter and floats in the summer. It's always seemed strange to me why they no longer do this - it's wheels year 'round. Supposed to be a Search and Rescue aircraft after all, but hey - what do I know? In answer...

Re: Canada Set to Pick Airbus Over Leonardo for Rescue Planes

So for the uneducated, why were new Buffaloes rejected? Just lack of pressurization and new engines? And will the existing Hercs still fly or is this Airbus supposed to replace both? One of the requirements for the new FWSAR aircraft was that it had be be certified by the time of the contract award...

Re: Canada Set to Pick Airbus Over Leonardo for Rescue Planes

These are a replacement for the buffalo. Other than the super STOL capabilities of the buffalo, the 295 outperforms it in all aspects. I can't stand up in a buffalo either. These are NOT a replacement for just the Buffalo, they will be replacing more C-130's than DHC-5's. You must be pretty tall if...

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has purchased 4 CL-415's to replace their 215's. Joe has apparently bought up the 215's and sold them to Turkey (and Korea).

Re: Buffalo Joe C46

This is why the RCAF has had a tool control system in place for more than thirty years. There are no personal tools allowed on military aircraft and all tool boxes have individual slots for each tool. As well, each tool box has to be signed off as closed and checked by two different people before a...

Re: Vancouver company is buying Arctic Sunwest

Probably won't see too much change on the ground level (flight-line). .......unless Ledcor makes some fast plays on management structure. sort of like the coup-style rearrangements made at Summit shortly after that acquisition/merger. Watch out JD . :smt041 You soooo took the words right out of my ...

Re: Canadian C 130, in flight fire

azimuthaviation: I'm fairly certian it hasn't. And an fyi the hercs can operate with a fuse tank, but to my knowledge they rarely do because the fuse tanks total capacity is roughly equal to the capacity of the externals and they can not have fuel in both so it doesnt make much sense to use the fus...

I give the Air Canada pilots my full support. It's about damn time the pilot group start standing up to management and the traveling public for that matter !! The traveling public seem to think it's their god given right to travel by air.....well, I hate to tell you this but it isn't. I for one am ...

Re: A-10

Always been my favorite plane. So many redundant and functional design aspects. Interesting features off the top of my head- triple hydraulic systems, can fly minus one engine, one tail, and half the wing area compromised. Vulcan cannon offset to accommodate nose gear. The giant Garrett turbofans m...
