Tips Wanted: Moving to Australia as a low time CPL
Hello, I am nearing the completion of my CPL, with ~180TT. I am planning to obtain my IFR and Multi soon, then I'd like to join my significant other in Australia. Should I try and get my first job here or in Australia? Does anyone have any experience flying in Australia? What is the market like for ...

Re: Flying into Vancouver
I fly a C172 into YVR somewhat frequently. The controllers are friendly most of the time. Tips: - Make sure to check NOTAMs for any VFR restrictions. This is more of a problem in the summer, but they have traffic flow restrictions sometimes. You will learn your lesson when they tell you can't land t...

If you are like me you can save even more money by never buying one. I have saved thousands of dollars since they came out by not having one. I have saved millions of dollars not buying airplanes, Lamborghinis and real estate. I hear you brother, it ain't easy when you're broke! Btw, which G...

Nice that they have rental cars now. Yeah, if you don't mind paying $100/day or $460/week in low season. It's either that or $50 one way using the only cab in town... I would take a rental, that way you can hit up all the good spots you want on the coast. Call ahead because they don't man the desks...

Re: "Weak aviation oversight making skies less safe: Opinion"
It is basically a wholesale transfer of responsibility from the government to industry, thereby reducing the need for government to provide resources, human or otherwise. Imagine how much an army of inspectors would cost to police the entire country. Now, all you need is a skeleton crew to look at ...

Re: Headsets- lightspeed tango
Hey! I have the Tango and I've been very happy with it. I haven't had any interference with the Bluetooth, and I really enjoy the lack of cables. They are a bit heavier than normal headsets, but it hasn't really bothered me. If the Bluetooth fails, there is a built in cable that you can connect and ...

Wanted: Block Hours/Partnership in YYC/YBW Area
Hello,
My sister is trying to do some time building for her CPL. She has about 100 hours so far.
If you have any block time available or an opportunity for a partnership on a single/small twin, please message me.

Re: Interim Order Respecting the Use of Model Aircraft (Drones)
I was initially pissed off at this and it solidifies my dislike for Garneau and all of the other ministers who come in to their posts and make uneducated changes for media glory. They can all go pound sand. Actually, I thought Garneau should have been better for the aviation/space sector given his ...

Ok so I find myself in a bit of a bind here, I was hoping to get some advice. So I am in Calgary, and educated as a mechanical engineer. I was in oil & gas before things hit the fan. I have 3 years experience which basically means nobody will hire me as I am not a "professional engineer." I didn't l...

Re: How does the VOR To/From flag work?
Hey photofly! I don't think I follow :( Here's what I understand: Say you pick a radial, 030 and you set your VOR to it. You are on the top right side, heading 030, away from the VOR on the 030 radial. 1) You set 030 on the VOR, so it knows you want a 30 degree phase shift from the omni signal. 2) T...

How does the VOR To/From flag work?
Hello! But what is the algorithm to display the To or From flag? Is the VOR connected to the heading indicator? :? I am familiar with how to use the VOR to intercept radials, and I understand the purpose of the To/From flag. I also understood that the VOR can identify which radial the plane is on by...
