We have bought a plane with a IO-470 modified with 520 cylinders. As far as I know is the P-Ponk conversion only for the O-470 not for the IO-470.
Does anybody know if this modification ( IO-470 with 520 bore) is common?
Thanks, Daniel

Re: C 206 on EDO 3430 3500lbs vs 3800 lbs max. gross
It as a 550 engine:)
Also normal max. gross weight is 3600 lbs on wheel Cessna but on EDO only 3500 lbs. Why? Boyancy?

Re: C 206 on EDO 3430 3500lbs vs 3800 lbs max. gross
Thanks. So the Flint Tip tanks give the 3800lbs gw increase. But we also have a 206 F with Wip 3450 amphib floats, also with 3800lbs. Is it the floats that give that gw increase, because this plane has no Wing tip tanks.

C 206 on EDO 3430 3500lbs vs 3800 lbs max. gross
Hi! We operate a C 206 G modell with EDO 3430 which gives a max. gross weight of 3500lbs and a 206 F modell and same floats with a Bonaire 550 conversion and wing extensions which has a max. gross weight of 3800lbs. According Bonaire the engine conversion does not give the the gw increase. I always ...

Thx, I will try with the shop who installed the engine. There is no revised performance data in the airplanes documentation.

C 206 G 550 engine performance data
Hi! We are operating 4 C 206 commercially in Norway both with Conti 520 and 550 engines. In order to use the gross weight increase from 3500 to 3800lbs with the 550 engine and wing tip tanks the authority requires new performance data for the engine airframe combination since the POH only covers the...

206 G/H Corrosion proof
I heard that the new Cessna 206 H modells have less thorough factory corosion proofing then the older G models. Can anybody confirm that? We are intending to buy a 206 for a saltwater float operation and have to decide between a H and a G model.
Thx, Daniel

Hi!
We intent to buy a Cessna 206 with a Mattituck Conti 520 engine. What exactly is the Mattituck conversion and does anybody here have any experience with that?
Thx , Daniel

Re: Seaplane prop 185
Rather not, but some loss would be ok I think.
Is there any difference, noise- and performance -wise, between Hartzell, Mc Cauley and MT 3 blade props?
I assume they are significantly less noisy then the MC 2 blade?

Seaplane prop 185
We are operating a C-185 F on PK amphibs with a 2 blade Mc Cauley prop, which is very noisy. Any recommendations what would be the quietest seaplane prop for the 185?
Thanks, Daniel

Importing/register Canadian aircraft in US
Hi!
We are currently looking to buy a C-180. There are quite some available in Canada, but the plane will be based in AK. Does anybody of you know how complicated it is to transfer a C-registered plane to a N-registration?
Thanks, Daniel

Re: Pre-buy inspection C-180
BPF/CamAero, thanks a lot for all this great and useful info! Just to confirm, TBO for the O-470 is 2000 hrs? Is there any calendar time limit for private operations? Concerning the prop ( Mc Cauley 88in) the calender time limit is 10 years? What about the flight time limit/TBO? 1800 hrs? If the air...

Re: Pre-buy inspection C-180
There is no particular plane yet, but several different offers out there. We are looking for a plane below 100K USD, it´s gonna be most probably a plane from the 50´s, but not necessarily. As far as the floats are concerned I have good experience with the EDO 2870, in my opinion the better choice fo...

Pre-buy inspection C-180
We are looking to buy a C-180 to operate it as a floatplane on straight floats. Any tips and advises what to check for in particular in a pre-buy inspection? It´s our first airplane purchase, so maybe there is somebody out there with some experience to share, especially with 180`s. Obviously, remain...

Performance upgrade kits C-180
We have a 1970 C-180 on straight floats with a standart O-470 engine. What options do we have to increase the performance a bit? Vortex Generators: Are there different types? Where can we order these? I heard about a double pipe exhaust system which gives another 20hp or so. Does anybody knows where...

Re: Buying your own plane: Calculation?
Thanks a lot. I know it´s hard to calculate maintenance costs as it´s kind of unpredictable. But if I check out a plane with low hours on prop and engine we have some time until an overhaul becomes an issue. Though it might be wise to calculate some reserve fund for the big costs to come one day. Ar...

Re: Flight training in your own plane

I Europe you always need to do the training via an approved training organization, even class or differential ratings.Just your flight instru...

As European I am not so familiar with Canadian regulations. If I am a certified instructor am I allowed to give instruction in my own plane? Hey guys, I am thinking about buying my own seaplane. Let´s say a 90 hp Cub on straight floats to start with. What annual coasts do I have to calculate? Some of you may own your own plane and might help me out with some figures. Insurance ( I have 6000 hrs TT, 300 on seaplanes)? Maintenance? Hangari...
