Re: Air Georgian Hiring Pool
Ground schools will be held all year long. Expecting 60 new hires in 2013. Direct entry captains and FOs. Upgrade happens once you have 2700tt and 500 on type. New hires will be placed wherever they're needed. Most likely YYC. Time to get back to YYZ is based on attrition and new hires. With the amo...

Re: Bearskin vs Georgian
The perdiems are based on time away from base (not duty hours). Ends up being about 600 a month (in YHZ). Halifax and Calgary guys work MUCH less than YYZ, still payed 100 credits. There is also not much, if any, wait for upgrade at Georgian. Once you have the required hours, you'll be captain. Mean...

Re: Air Georgian Hiring Pool
There's only two people on a bond and they just started groundschool, so no, the bond hasn't done anything yet. Jazz stopped hiring so that's affected attrition at GGN a bit. Pilots are still leaving, but they're not replacing them as quickly as they are leaving.

Re: Air Georgian Hiring Pool
Management said they are planning for a new-hire ground school in August, while not 100%, there will be one in August or Sept.

Bravo, Skycare, Wasaya, and Thunder to name a few. Navajo and Caravan pilots from wherever, some float guys as well and the odd instructor. Internal references help big time.CRJ-705 wrote:what airlines does georgian hire from?

Re: From instructing to Georgian
....good that you've got some reasonably balanced FOs then. Or at least ones that keep their mouths shut in public. All too often I see people that mistakenly think that because they have a date of hire, that they are entitled to the world. Everyone at Georgian knows very well how the upgrade proce...

There is no bond at Georgian. Not sure where you're coming up with that.

Re: From instructing to Georgian
FO's start at 28 and change. The pay rates go up by a certain percentage every January and July iirc, as well as every year since your start date. Yes, the pay sucks, but it is pretty comparable, and there is no bond. I get about $600 a month in perdiems. Airline passes with AC and star alliance mem...

Re: From instructing to Georgian
Are there any new pilots out there that just want to fly and do a good job without considering their employer simply as a career step to put ink in the logbook so they can move on.? It's probably this way because of the pay rates. F/Os start at $24 000 with captains topping off at less than $60 000...

Re: Bearskin vs Georgian
FYIW, my time with GGN has been quite positive. Halifax is a great place to live and relatively inexpensive. The schedule and job itself is quite easy. I prefer the morning pairings, start around 0700-0800 and done by 1430. 11 GDOs a month. Perdiems are about $500-600 per month. The company is very ...

Re: Georgian Interview
Does anyone know if they started making the calls for their next Groundschool? I believe for May/June? Interviews/sims were yesterday and today, and then they phone references. Seems to be a 1-2 week wait (although with a May gs planned, they'll have to speed that process up a bit). And I gotta agr...

Re: Georgian Interview
Most junior pilots are sent wherever they're needed. You can bid back to YYZ, looks like a 5 month wait at the moment.
