Re: Food prep / meals / snacks on the road
I've recently become a big fan of Soylent shakes and bars - there was a bit of a health scare with some of their bars that got contaminated with some nasty bug, but I think that's taken care of now... they're not fancy, but give you all the basic nutrition you need on the go.

Future of air ambulances?
Howdy - Just wondering what the aviation world thinks about the future of air transport for medical reasons - I was talking with a Paramedic friend of mine and he seems to believe that for all but the absolute worst disasters, the medical care they are able to provide on the ground and at the site h...

Re: Calgary YYC Fighter jet escort about 6:15 PM Oct 20?
this shows how unreliable "eyewitness" reports are... I like to think i'm moderately informed about different types of aircraft, etc, but I was almost certain it was a southwest plane with a fighter jet... I was only slightly off. LOL

Calgary YYC Fighter jet escort about 6:15 PM Oct 20?
Hey... I was standing outside a friends place in the SW and looked up to see what looked like a southwest plane being escorted by a small plane... Can't find any reports on it... anyone have any insight?

American Airlines accidentally used the wrong plane....
interesting to see how the flying public react to this one... Specifically, the A321 variant used by American Airlines lacked ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) from the FAA, according to Brian Sumers, an aviation expert who first reported on the incident. The certi...

Re: Westjet Unionization + Bomb threats = Connected?
threats only work against the bottom line of a company. ... just like WestJet execs have said about the threat of unionization. Read this article about how delays and problems in the airline industry serve to bring the team together... thus reminding everyone that works for WestJet that they don't ...

Westjet Unionization + Bomb threats = Connected?
I really can't help but speculate that the bomb hoaxes/threats against Westjet and the threat of unionization are connected. The amount of media attention and particularly WestJet's response really make me feel the company is trying to spin this into a crisis that will show how well the company can ...

Lost plane in Prince George
From Opinion 250 Some tense times at the Prince George Airport this afternoon as the pilot of a Cessna radioed in that he was lost in the snowfall. The pilot had radioed he didn’t know where he was, so as a precaution, other inbound flights were put in a holding pattern. One WestJet flight turned ar...

If you're shooting Nikon, I recommend their 18-200 lens... very versatile, decent low light and vibration resistance. Great overall lens.

Report released into fatal near Fort St. John
The report has been released by the TSB into the fatal Cessna 185E C–FXJN crash last winter near Fort St.John YXJ... officially it is a CFIT crash, with a cell phone connection... The TSB mentions: "The aircraft had experienced several large altitude deviations while the pilot was using his cellphon...

Hey - does anyone know what the deal is with STARS and their AW139's that the bought a long time ago? I have found press releases online that they got their first one 2008, but their website doesn't list it as currently in their fleet? Arn't these the same choppers that ORNGE was flying and don't ha...
