Re: WJ calls in the Swat Team on Maskless Toddler
I feel for cabin crew. In many ways I think they are in an impossible position when dealing with “guests” that don’t want to go along to get along when dealing with what is wholly a public health issue, not an aviation safety issue. There are always 2 sides to a story but the media usually doesn’t ...

Re: Flight Training in Saskatoon through Mitchinson or Millennium?
either school will get you where you need to be for the ppl and a few extra ratings. Mitchenson tends to be the busier but has options such as the sim- really not necessary for you at this point. Good pilots. Probably slightly more expensive. Cecil one of the highest time instructor pilots anymore. ...

If I wanted to get rid of the vacuum pump, DG and AH altogether, would I need to get two Garmin G5 units (one showing AH and one used as DG) or is one enough toggling back and forth as needed? When I looked into it a year ago to ditch vacuum system, the G5 wouldn’t suffice to date. Not certified as...

Re: Confed drops IFR
Group 3 IFR is basically useless if you're looking to get a job in IFR operations. Remember a group 1 gives you an IFR on all aeroplanes, you don't need the other groups... Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. But the multi check has no flight time requirements, if you have cat 3 and you get multi...

No. But if one googles westjet and grooming update several sites carry the information which would be considered public domain. Nothing violating any policy of copy and pasting that information here.

Re: Aircraft sliding off the runway in YXE?
Interesting that it was so slippery with the temperature above freezing for around 8 hours prior to the incident. Not from Canada? The air may have been above freezing, but the ground was not. As soon as that rain fell onto the frozen pavement, it turned to ice. Happens all the time. That's why hig...

Re: Mid-Air Collision Near Ottawa
The only problem with ADS-B is, Canada is not implementing it in January 2020. Therefor, any ADS-B receiver in Canada is pretty useless as Canada has no ADS-B ground stations. I have a portable Scout ADS-B receiver and used it extensively while flying in California, Oregon and Washington and it work...

Check out the CRA guideline T4044 on employment expenses. In general, you have to meet several points in order to claim expenses you paid as an employee and your employer has to fill out a form and require you to purchase that supply as part of your employment. i.e. you want a brand spanking new Bos...

SV on foreflight is really quite impressive. with a fellow safety pilot, we flew a complete x country from lift off to near touchdown on the centre line. sure a nice extra tool. especially over the mountains

NavCanada and Aireon just finishing launching the last of the satellites this year for a space based adsb tracking system. One may assume it will be able to transmit weather eventually but I can’t find any info on that yet. Outside of being close to the US border, no real adsb service in Canada. I u...

Agree with other posters- do it for an adventure but not to save money nor time. It won’t. You can get it done in Canada and not have to bother with another exam and money for the conversion. Easily 5 weeks. Online for the ground school part that you can do from home at your leisure or get a jump st...

The Garmin GTX 345 uses 1090 MHz out (which will work in Canada as well as the US), and supports both 1090 MHz and 978 MHz UAT in, so that you can get all the goodies in the US. Flying around Ottawa, I don't pick up FIS-B from the US until I'm at a good altitude, but I do get a good number of air-t...

So far all that has been announced is surveillance only but I suppose weather info wouldn’t be that much of a jump after. Currently I use a US XM aviator subscription on ForeFlight which works pretty well. Gives radar for most of the southern areas plus some other goodies and updated METARS across C...

Just looking for feedback and thoughts on installing ADS-B in my airplane. Looking at the coverage maps and it looks like there is prett...

“SpaceX Telsa with tires, seats, other materials that don't melt at 500+'C” Glad you brought that up because it shows you don’t understand temperature versus heat. Temperature is the measurement of the average kinetic energy within a system. Heat is a change in an object, either positive or negative...

Just in response to the photo of the airliner and a pretty picture from the internet. Most people don't realize how large the earth is compared to the altitude of a passenger aircraft hence the common pictures on flat earth websites asking why no dip seen from that altitude. Concorde's ceiling was 1...

Just stop. I am running out of pretzels. I had a similar discussion at a family function with a true flat earth believer and short of shooting him into space no argument presented would satisfy him. I did offer to provide part of the ride up to about 20,000 ft but he would have to do the rest....
