Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Updated Purchase Price at $5 per share
Is it true that the their is a deadline of Feb 15th to receive approval, after that, Air Canada can cancel the deal ? That's the way I understand it as well, without paying any termination fees. However both parties can also agree to extend this deal beyond the Feb 15th deadline. I expect some news...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Updated Purchase Price at $5 per share
As we enter the last week of January 2021, will we finally hear the governments position on this deal? Or will we continue to wait on the EU, which is probably waiting on the Canadian government? EU will be acting independently. Current forecast decision date is Feb 09. If there is anybody ‘waiting...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
I’m going to assume you guys are laid off and taking advantage of legal weed ... that’s the only way you could come up with this hopeful garbage. At $5/share the deal is done and the regulators will now approve the deal, there is no question at this point. As for seniority, blended list .. might be...

Re: Rouge is back?
Also worth mentioning:
Surplus pilots at rouge (Airbus only) will be "made whole" and re-trained to current qpos just as their mainline counter parts have been doing.
After they are trained they will be awarded flying till their layoff (should that ever come).

Pretty anticlimactic.
Do they have to make an announcement today?

https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/transat-shares-sink-to-8-year-low-as-takeover-odds-suffer-1.1497807 Stock price below $4 yesterday. Outside date on Transat investor relations website shows Sept 27th. As far as I know AC has not used a 30 day extension nor is it planning to. Now we wait to see if Transat...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
GATRKGA et al., The potential AT merger argument is a red herring. I believe that if one takes a considered look at potential timelines and legalities, one will see that the AT merger is not referenced by the JV article of the MOA2. Firstly, JV language references agreements with other airlines. If...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
I saw that, but is it really a big issue if it's just JV and codeshare? The JV issue allows the company to take the 45 passengers booked on their YYZ to FRA flight to be put on a Lufthansa flight and cancel the AC flight. Essentially the Lufthansa pilots doing ACPA work. Simplistic view and a lot m...

Re: Jazz Recalls?
The company will do what it needs to for survival, you cannot justify the current capacity on some of those routes using mainline (and in the near future rouge) equipment. On the other hand, ACPA will do what it needs to for optics. They need to ensure that a precedent is set that ANY contract viola...

Re: Jazz Recalls?
Hey, I heard a rumor that Jazz has recalled a significant number of employees recently ( mainly pilots) . Is there any truth to this? If it is true, congrats to all of those taking to the skies! I shall live vicariously through you. For those who have not been recalled, I’m sorry. I hope this mess ...

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/eu-resumes-air-canada-transat-125445603.html?.tsrc=applewf If somehow the deal doesn't expire on September 27th That's the important question right now. A clause bought up a few posts ago, Transat maybe able to extend the deal beyond Sept 27th because of the EU pro...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
I remember the EU halted the probe for a bit earlier this summer, pending some missing information/documents. Has it resumed the probe? The probe has not resumed according to the EU commission competition website and Calin on the Q2 conference call. https://ec.europa.eu/competition/elojade/isef/cas...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
The deal will be hull only . We are already overstaffed and we are prepared for the big confrontation because every Air Canada employee will be brought back to work before any residual buyout pilots get on. Not happy news but our pilots must come first. I don't think that is how it works, its going...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
I don't believe the airline will drastically change its overall crew requirements on the next bid, rather shuffle a few positions between types, as it need to maintain flexibility and the ability to recover should the market recover (to the airlines own forecast of 70-80% pre-covid) next summer. Th...

Re: Relief Pilots
I'm kind of glad they're gone. A lot of the RP's I talked to had significant responsibilities outside of work and told me that's why they bid RP. Which makes you kind of wonder if they're just along for the ride more or less. A few doctors, some in construction, one a mayor if I remember correctly....
