The cost of training is not the issue. Regardless of the price of training, the same 2 guys in the pointy end of the plane are responsible for the safety of everyone onboard. 35k is a mind-blowing number to accept some of that responsibility. Friends that fly with their pilot friends generally want to see the 'stall'. My guess is a power on stall with a nasty wing drop, and obviously an out of whack C of G for recovery. Whatever happened, it is unfortunate. RIP to all.
