Re: DOES THIS RENEW MY GROUP 1? PLS HELP
You people are absolutely pricks, you come to this thread with no contributions and walked in like you know better than others how it goes in other parts of the world, and for your information, it takes 3 months of flying here to get back what I have invested in the TR and the company r-imburse that...

Re: DOES THIS RENEW MY GROUP 1? PLS HELP
Thank you Big Pistons Forever. A few people have pointed out to me that the 61 and 121 rides are identical in both the standards and flight test items. One is conducted inside an air carrier training facility, the other in a TRTO. I've contacted Mrs. Sharon over in Hamilton and will lay out the two ...

Re: DOES THIS RENEW MY GROUP 1? PLS HELP
It costed me like 15k. 10.5 for the course, 1.5k for accomodation, 1.5k for flight tickets since I had to fly to the US from Asia and the rest is food.
It was hardest course I've done because the complexity of the airplane and the short time frame.

Re: DOES THIS RENEW MY GROUP 1? PLS HELP
Mr. Big Pistons Forever, Thank you for your swift response! I didn't expect an answer til later in the day as it's midnight here in Asia. Forgive me for my limited english but Para 2C seems to suggest that doing a 121/135 ride would also meet the requirements of 61.58 so wouldn't the 61.58 ride also...

DOES THIS RENEW MY GROUP 1? PLS HELP
Good morning AvCan! Just a quick recap I'm a Canadian CPL holder with a Group 1 (Group 1 checkride was July last year) so per the CARs I have exactly 2 years to renew my Group 1, and if it goes to 4 years I will have to do both the checkride and the INRAT again. However I also hold an FAA CPL and re...

Re: WWFC MIFR
WWFC is a good place for MIFR, it has all kinda approaches in one field which could save you some money. I strongly strongly recommend Dave (David Varley), he's a very competent and caring instructor.

Re: About the Airbus A320/1 type rating
Colonel and DHC2eater, Thank you for your advice, I will certainly take it to heart. I'm spending more and more time everyday going through the manuals and the procedures, they make more sense now, sometimes I find the English used in Airbus' manuals funny, it doesn't sound very natural. I've manage...

Re: About the Airbus A320/1 type rating
Thank you Mr. Ahramin I take it you fly airbus too? I've had a few looks at the FCTM, took down notes and made some efforts to understand the acronyms involved in that manual. I also found Smartcockpit and Airbusdriver.net yesterday. My F/O friend gave me Airbus VACBI to watch (similar to CBT I gues...

Re: About the Airbus A320/1 type rating
Colonel Sanders, thank you I will try my absolute best! I'm planning to comeback Canada in the near future to get some single and multi time so I can brush up my stick and rudder skills, and maybe do the ATP check ride  Pop n Fresh Thank you, I cannot contact Airbus directly, my airline is the...

About the Airbus A320/1 type rating
Good morning, Long story short, after training in Canada and then returned to South East Asia, I've managed to land a job after sitting around for 8 months. The company is sending me to Airbus type rating school in Toulouse for 40 days to get typed on the A320. I am quite nervous on what to expect, ...

ICAO English Level 6? International or just Canadian?
Good morning forum, I have an ICAO English level 6 issued by transport canada, I took the test about a year ago. My question is: Is my ICAO level 6 internationally regconized? I currently reside in Vietnam and one of the airline asks for ICAO level 4...I'm confused whether my level 6 is sufficient o...

Re: TC ATPL to FAA ATP conversion and study guide
Colonel, do you think it would be a problem with a new sticker being on top of your temp privileges. I've sent my form to Oklahoma, with the scan of my booklet including the pages with my temporary licence (commercial, multi-engine and group 1). My sticker arrived last week so I stuck it on top of t...

Re: Rush Medical
to OP, I had my multi-engine checkride one month ago, then multi-engine instrument (group 1) two weeks ago, with the examiner's signature in my booklet as a temporary license which is good for 90 days. Because of my circumstances I had to leave Canada for Asia, I requested faster processing of my st...

Re: Multi IFR test coming up.
I just passed the ride last Tuesday. You should know the CAP GEN cold like Colonel said, know the climb gradient graph. On the oral I was asked with a total electrical failure (inc battery failure) having a compass and attitude indicator only in the clouds where can I find VFR weather (the examiner ...

Re: Any Vancouver pilots around?
First of all I thank Tail-Chaser, moocow, tommywcom and kmf.kenif for your inputs, I really appreciate it and it will help me make an informed decision. I will probably drive around and visit the schools and have one last look beforehand. Just got my CPL and will try my best for the multi training. ...

Re: Any Vancouver pilots around?
Mr. moocow, I'm attracted to CZBB because of ProIFR (I heard good things about them) and SeaLandAir because of their DA42 fleet, I would like to do my MIFR on the DA42, besides that one of my relative is close by. Mr. westcoasting can you expand on that? The practice area seems to be about 6-7nm nor...

Positiverate27,
Thank you very much for your information, I'm truly grateful. As of now I am leaning towards SeaLandAir but more research wouldn't hurt.

Any Vancouver pilots around?
Good day :D, I'm a student pilot who will be soon moving to Vancouver. I'm planning to train at Boundary Bay airport for my MIFR with either ProIFR or SeaLandAir, have you had any experience with either schools? Anything to watch out for? Any postive feedback? I'm also looking around for a place to ...

Re: Been away for awhile...
Thanks for the insight photofly and Colonel, I would have thought it would be possible, my interpretation of CARS would be that it only requires for your FAA one to be valid and current for you to do a conversion. I'll guess I will ask the next time I'm at Hamilton's TC office or few years down the ...

Re: Been away for awhile...
Colonel I have a question, say you got your Group 1 IFR and convert it to FAA's equivalent, and since the FAA rating is good for life (as long as you perform holds and 6 approaches in the preceeding 6 months no matter where in the world). If I lose my Canadian Group 1 after 2 years but still flies I...

Re: Go to Asia
Just to add if you ever get a job as F/O over here, it's really good, very good salary (compared to living standard), you would always stay in 5 star hotel for any trips, there's always transportation from work to home, my mother happened to run a bar for expat pilots and some of her customers are ...
