Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Walter that’s a pretty inflammatory statement seems to me you’re implying you know there’s an unaddressed underlying issue. Have you ever submitted an SMS hazard report to bring attention to the concern? If not in this day and age you’re part of the problem. I think one of the most risky things comp...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

If memory serves me one is suppose to reduce the MTOW on the C208 for icing conditions as well, at least that was the requirement before they came out with all the fancy new icing add-ons for the aircraft. Wasaya does have an SMS program so I imagine they covered their asses by documenting a risk as...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Looks like he just cut and pasted the latest press release they weren't his words or take on the events. Embarrassing? I don't know about that. Like all accidents everybody wants to know what happened. Yes it gets a little sideways sometimes but I don't think anybody is trying to be cruel or insensi...

Remind me again who's respo...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Destination was KB6, Wasaya has a fuel cache in YTL a mere 13 miles away and another in NM5 that would have been available as an option if low fuel was a concern. I was told the flight turned around due to the onset of airborne icing. The intention was to return to YPL, and the decision to return to...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

They are not, they decided years ago modifications were cost prohibitive. It was not located by an ELT, it was not squawking. The aircraft was outfitted with a GPS based flight tracking devise called SkyTrac which I imagine supplied the primary data for the search area.

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Many facts to come yet so a little early to be trying speculate as to whether the pilot succumbed to cold or injuries sustained. My comment is directed to the person that talked about inadequate de-icing facilities. Although I agree de-icing in remote communities can be and is a problem it had nothi...

Wasaya New CBA

Wasaya's new CBA was ratified Friday with over 80% approval by the union members. Rumor on the street is that the new pay structure has ditched the former mileage pay system in favor of a duty day based pay. Personally I'm glad to see companys getting away from mileage pay, it should be outlawed in ...
