Comical reply, considering regional starting pay in Australia is on average twice that of North America...

Re: New Zealand Dash Ad

Don't people in normal jobs get 8 days off a month? Yes. People with 9-5 Mon-Fri hours. They get to be home every night. If you have 8 days off with layovers you won't be home much. But that's my point, maybe this gig has you back in time for dinner every day. NZ isn't a big country, it's like a th...

Re: Bush plane capable of carrying ATVs?

Take a few at a time, plus a F.A!! "Toulouse, June 21, 2017 – ATR is finalising the evaluation for the launch... "Finalising the evaluation for the launch". Lol That's quite an ambiguous statement. I'd pay money to see the average ATR pilot try and and take a loaded ATR into an 800m runway. You can...

Re: Northern Air Carriers Feeling the Pinch.

"Adapt or die" They are. Boeing has announced they will be testing self flying planes this summer. Thank God, the thought of putting my family on airplanes flown by the entitled Millennials I have seen over the past decade is terrifying. This is sarcasm right? I feel bad having to ask but at least ...

Re: New Zealand Dash Ad

8 days off a month is due to their flight/duty time regs, assuming they're similar to Australia's. QantasLink Dash pilots also only get 8 days off a month, as their rest rules make it impossible to get the min credit in less days than that. Apparently those guys are getting 10/11 days off a month a...

Roughly 90k/yr with the opportunity to move up to their mainline fleet...wonder what the cost of living is like down there ?? Might be not a bad gig considering the wawcon at the regionals here...or compare it to what Maldivian Airlines is offering for Dash 8 cpts :vom: On par with Canada. Likewise...

Re: Parking Brake on the Runway

It's written into our SOP's that if the crew is to make any changes to the FMS, then the parking break MUST be set. Logic would dictate you would advise ATC of the delay, and either have things sorted out prior to lining up, or taxi clear of the active runway - unless traffic wasn't going to be an i...

The crews who fly the 350 in general seem pretty happy. Get to live in a nice place, fly decent equipment. I feel the metro side of the operation has severely tarnished the reputation.

Completed a video interview 3 weeks ago, heard back 5 days later with the next steps. It's super awkward, and many of the questions feel redundant, but they already know most of the answers they need. It's more of a generic filter is suspect.

Re: Future of Regional Flying in Canada?

Would be interesting to hear from someone who operates ATR72 aircraft commercially in Canada. With the increased length and narrow wheel base I wonder how they work out in the gusty, icey conditions frequently encountered. ATR42 sound like they're much more directionally stable, as with the Q400 wit...

Smart! If they start saving on wheels now, when the pilots unionize they will have some spare cash for pay raises!!!!
