Re: One List

You've been proven wrong a few times now that I've seen Cloak and I find your arguments suspect of being anti pilot.

I've not been around for too long but I'm pretty sure you're a troll. If I'm wrong then you'd be a great guy to spend a few days with in the airplane and chat.

Re: ONEX plans

Hey Jasshole,

M. Porter eluded to the option in investing in the new OneX WestJet with only the funds you'd be paid out otherwise for the ESP.

If you're feeling bullish about OneX building this company it could be a quick route to a millionaire eh?

Re: ONEX plans

That's definitely not happening tailgunner.

Replacement plan is already in works. My question is what is the option going to be to reinvest with current ESP funds instead of receiving cheque from OneX.

Re: Best Cellphone Plans for International Crew Members

I second the VoIP route. I use Fongo and have a data only plan, ported it over when i ditched the regular cell plan. $15 a month with fido for data only 3g. $10 per gig over.

If you can get a us address in paper I'd look into google FI. Haven't tried it but looks pretty sweet for a world traveler.

"I just flew with a mgmt pilot last week ferrying a 737 from Kelowna with the new seat layout back to Calgary...he said they are going to 20 planes pretty quick. He was also of the opinion that the Swoop LOU would need to be re-evaluated in order to fill all the positions. We will have to wait and s...

Didn't see the relationship to the title in the article. Glad to hear Ed is looking forward to the negotiations....

Good article except they put a positive spin on the swoop pilot moving over from WestJet using the word promotion. Wish they would have dug went deeper there.

Thanks for the insights here. I've got some good questions for the accountant from this thread now. Immigration lawyer quoted me 5K to get my permanent residence.

I'll be in touch JBI thank you!

Re: Moving to the states but still working in Canada

Thanks guys, I'm going to look for that thread about long haul guys. I chatted with an accountant, the taxation treaty prevents double taxation, I'll be taxed in Canada since I'm working for a Canadian company and based in Canada. I'll file a return to the IRS and apply my Canadian tax as a credit t...

Moving to the states but still working in Canada

I'm a Canadian and want to become a permanent residence in the states through my wife who is a dual citizen. Going to keep my job in Canada. Off chance anyone has done this or similar? Talked to an immigration lawyer, he's going to charge 5K and take care of the paperwork for permanent residence for...

There estimated wait time is surprisingly accurate. I put an alarm to my phone for a few minutes ahead of when they say I'll be answered and put the phone down. Don't have to listen to the hold music and commercials.

Hey aerobod, it is a strong business case they've made imho hitting both ends of the market. It would be quiet a unprecedented maneuver. I've listened to the calls it is hard to imagine they'd be planning something like this and having to lie to everyone. For sure this is just wild speculation on my...

Re: Quarterly loss

Or, this is the beginning of the transition. Phase out Westjet and replace it with Swoop. Start laying off people and offering them year one salaries at Swoop. Sure hope I'm way off on this. What is the average age of the pilots at WestJet? Wondering if there is just way too many guys going to be si...

Table 29 in Salmon Arm, I liked walking there with my gear to unwind. Calm ambiance, nightly specials as I recall & it was at the hotel I was staying at. It was a fine dinning place that I didn't feel awkward eating alone at. But I think you were asking for a general answer. I use to use yelp but no...

Pacman007 I'm not missing that point, I've been reading these forums for awhile now.

Hey Rudder,

I see no reason why the pilots would even consider a compromise in the scenario where WJ NEEDS them to launch Swoop & they're hiring outside pilots anyway.

Re: WestJet Link is delaying launch date

Yeah it's a tough situation Rudder, I'll agree with your general sentiment there. But that is it. Westjet has been hiring pilots off the street for Swoop now for awhile now. Swoop will inevitably open with non-seniority list pilots. There is no offer or proposition to change that dynamic. Next, the ...
