Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...

Is changing the regulations market forces? It was the minimum requirements being raise first that started the wage increases in the US. The unions lobby for those increases and to maintain them. Who else would have advocted for those changes cloak? How many non union shops are there at those places ...

Re: MyID Travel - Air Canada Bookings Down

There estimated wait time is surprisingly accurate. I put an alarm to my phone for a few minutes ahead of when they say I'll be answered and put the phone down. Don't have to listen to the hold music and commercials.

Re: Quarterly loss

Hey aerobod, it is a strong business case they've made imho hitting both ends of the market. It would be quiet a unprecedented maneuver. I've listened to the calls it is hard to imagine they'd be planning something like this and having to lie to everyone. For sure this is just wild speculation on my...

Re: Quarterly loss

Or, this is the beginning of the transition. Phase out Westjet and replace it with Swoop. Start laying off people and offering them year one salaries at Swoop. Sure hope I'm way off on this. What is the average age of the pilots at WestJet? Wondering if there is just way too many guys going to be si...

Jasper CYJA on wheels this week

Hey all,

Would like to take the 182 into CYJA this weekend March 30th. Anybody from around there that could tell me how it looks or take a picture? Thanks.

Instructor Prep Book

Does anyone have a used copy they'd sell or lend me? Newer then 2013. I'm renewing my long expired class three.

Thanks,

Re: Favorite restaurant while on layover

Table 29 in Salmon Arm, I liked walking there with my gear to unwind. Calm ambiance, nightly specials as I recall & it was at the hotel I was staying at. It was a fine dinning place that I didn't feel awkward eating alone at. But I think you were asking for a general answer. I use to use yelp but no...

Re: WestJet Link is delaying launch date

Pacman007 I'm not missing that point, I've been reading these forums for awhile now.

Hey Rudder,

I see no reason why the pilots would even consider a compromise in the scenario where WJ NEEDS them to launch Swoop & they're hiring outside pilots anyway.

Re: WestJet Link is delaying launch date

Yeah it's a tough situation Rudder, I'll agree with your general sentiment there. But that is it. Westjet has been hiring pilots off the street for Swoop now for awhile now. Swoop will inevitably open with non-seniority list pilots. There is no offer or proposition to change that dynamic. Next, the ...

Re: WestJet Link is delaying launch date

Hey Rudder, They're trying to get their new airline to launch on time & showing a little desperation late in the game. Rouge is completely different then Swoop. There is hardly any comparison as to how it developed & how Swoop has, especially from a pilot standpoint. Rouge was negotiated between pil...

WestJet Link is delaying launch date

Investors are worried about execution of the many changes happening at WS, this has been communicated as their biggest issue. Link has been delayed & WS states it is a Pasco operational reason. Edit: they've now say it is for regulatory approval. Westjet pilots have been offered a two year Leave of ...

Point Roberts brother. I'm considering it but I'd work in YVR.

I didn't read many of the responses so apologize for any ignorance in the suggestion.

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

Hey neophyte, Realitychex already made a post that answers your questions on page two or so. The threat to WJA in the ULCC market, as explained by WJA executives, is: 1) percentage of foreign ownership for Canadian airlines has increased & coming competition in that market will be strong 2) Market r...

End of an era. Now we moved to space based systems.

That Space X launch that had people worried last week over LA was for the Iridium constellation which is what we'll be using for our space based ATC system.

Re: IFR Departure from unsurveyed airport

You can also study the VNC charts to determine the area around the aerodrome and any obstacles that will effect it. As I recall this was the advice in the AIM. This question and many like it can be answered from that book. If your studying for your INRAT use the study and reference guide and look up...

Re: Got my first flying job

Good for you! Now stay focused on learning as much as you can, there is lots- even though you're likely flying the same plane you trained in. It's a different world now. I don't mean to be patronizing, I think I'm speaking to my former self there. I also got my first job with no ratings and near 200...
