Re: The end of Flair?
Cheap airfares and “helping Canadians” means absolutely nothing if you aren’t making enough to pay your bills, creditors, and tax man.

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
SJ won’t even be able to get a job as a used car salesman after this whole debacle. “There’s nothing wrong with this beauty” said as the rear bumper held on by duct tape falls off after a gentle tap.

They can’t even come up with a consistent message. Suspending growth yesterday, job ads for rapid growth today.

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I find the loan figures interesting. 20 planes. 189 seats. Four sectors each per day (based on flight radar and is VERY generous). = 15,120 seats / day = 453,600 / month. So $15 of each ticket sold goes to paying lease payments alone. Not including the other 300 million in debt. Yes I know this isn...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I think it will be more than that agreement falling through in the next few months. It’s kinda hard to seize assets when you barely have any. If the tail number chart I have found online is correct, all but 3 of their tails are leased. I don’t think the CRA can take things that are actually owned by...

Re: Timing the cycle
This is why you won't get the contract you think you deserve. You're too worried about my comments than negotiating. And yes - I still believe Unifor is useless. LOL Not worried about you at all. Just making sure everyone knows what they are dealing with. In fact you have brought in a lot of insigh...

I love how accountant crawls out from under their management rock during all pilot ca negotiation. They are very passionate about us not getting a penny more. Bonus must be correlated.

Re: Did they stopped hiring?
Your last statement provided a little insight / concern. It’s not their job to tell you if you are missing something. If there is a requirement listed in the job ad, your resume should state how you meet it. If a document is requested, you should provide it. HR departments don’t have time to hold ha...

Re: Did they stopped hiring?
Encore is actively hiring.
If you received a PFO and meet all the requirements have someone take a look at your resume. Something is triggering the rejection.

I guess we now know what the plan is for the 80+ deliveries he keeps talking about. They are for fleet replacement not fleet growth.

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
2:1 ratio with no fences. I am sorry but we can't have captains with 3 years seniority holding a left seat when the larger carrier has a 10 year upgrade.

Re: Diabetes paranoia - in desperate need of guidance
Diabetes runs in my family too. A few years ago I had a numb toe and started to worry. Though, not to the extent you are by the sounds of it. So different concerns (numb vs temp sensitivity), but similar concerns. It’s good that you’re worried, but the internet can make things much worse. Turns out…...

Re: Comox WestJet + RCAF
I agree about the situational awareness piece but I wasn’t there so who knows what the conversation was up front. There are a lot of other factors to this incident though that hopefully bring some changes. The crew are not the only ones involved in this incident. Why are there no notams about the ta...
Re: Reapply
The above comments are great points. Airlines will call you if you meet the minimum requirements because well those are their requirements. In this environment they are not going go spend two hours interviewing someone they have no intention of hiring. Take some time to reflect on the questions they...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
Within the context of an AC FO clearing >$5000 a month this may seem like a give. For me as a 20+ CA that dreads the $2000 paycheque every January, this is a massive improvement and voting it down isn't entirely practical. This is selling your house at a high water mark that could change your life....

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
There are other gains of course, but the 15.5% number is actually below inflation since 2018 (start of last contract). Total Inflation since 2018 is 17.3% 2023-05-21.png 2019 was actually the start of the last contract. Same BofC calculator has inflation at exactly 15% for that period. Ok thanks fo...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
Now that AC is under the ALPA banner it would be great to align our contract cycles in some way. With WJ potentially entering a 4 year CA and AC negotiating this summer, it will be another 3.5 years until WJ is able to see gains again based on what AC gets. Each carrier having their go at it every 2...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
First of all, WJ MEC, thank you for trying to work as best as you could. I’m sure it’s not easy to bargain against such an out-of-touch management. I’m sorry to say but this AIP is absolutely disappointing. We’re talking about inflationary raises!? There are other gains of course, but the 15.5% num...
