Re: Best guess when recalls could happen
A few of the new CRJ-900's have arrived already, they're just sitting in Halifax, waiting to be put into service.
That is incorrect. The aircraft in YHZ are from the existing fleet. The newest aircraft is coming together in YMX and will be delivered in June. The deliveries for the ...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

Hello everyone. What are your best guesses when jazz will start recalling inactive/layed off pilots. The only reason I am asking is because I have been offered summer employment but I don't want to accept it if jazz is going to recall me in July or Aug. I have been with the company 2.5 years and lo...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

How many furloughs does this mean or does it mean no more hiring for a while? How many years on the pilot list will it go back? On the other side, no more excuses to not respect the new duty regs rapidly. I understand that most carriers have applied for and will receive an 18 month extension to bri...

What DOH would a pilot with a seniority in the 3200-3400 range have?

Not true. Jazz pilots were deemed essential the last time a strike was imminent too.

Re: Layoffs

Yeah well the great and almighty ALPA gave up the requirement for a downbid too... but hey at least the ones not effected keep their left seat, left seat pay and oh ya dont touch my db kid! If a down-bid was run now, the layoffs at Jazz would be much worse. That shows how little you know...

Re: Layoffs

Only 600 layoffs is a pretty damn good outcome. Other companies have laid off everyone and we laid off 1/2 our pilots (approx 675) at Jazz. I would have thought many more if AC has 4000+ pilots. Yeah well the great and almighty ALPA gave up the requirement for a downbid too... but hey at least the ...

Re: Layoffs

I live in a small town. The restaurants etc seem to be hanging on. The "businesses" asking for support from the local community, seem to be the businesses that nobody really needs. Selling overpriced scented candles and fancy soap. Overpriced tourist crap etc. Maybe it is nice you have one of those...

Re: Layoffs

I'm encouraging everyone I know to go out to bars restaurants and local retailers this summer. We can definitely jump start the economy if everyone went to the restaurant and ate out once a week. Those who can at least. Together we flatten the curve. Together we can make this a V. You can do this n...

Re: Layoffs

Take the job and don’t hesitate. This could be a long downturn. I was laid off on previous cycles and was lucky to be one of the first to be let go. I got a job up north right away. As time went on, you had to be an astronaut to get hired for anything. I was in a comfortable position, making good mo...

This thread is barely 2 months old and so much has changed. The cycle is now complete. We won’t see 1500 hour airline Captains for a while.

AC could petition the government to drop the new fatigue rules for a year... amongst other things to save money.
This is already being discussed between government and the major carriers. I fully expect a delay in implementation to happen.

I have an ask for all those on here: be compassionate, be encouraging, stop with the petty bickering. its time to step up our game, tighten our belts, and yes get along.

Be safe, stay healthy.

Re: Corona Virus

Looks like borders will be closed across the EU by the end of the week. A 30 day travel ban is also being discussed. That looks very optimistic to me. Airline after Airline has cancelled between 85% - 100% of flights. A total flight shutdown looks like a real possibility. You will see the same in N...

I am hearing that the Mar 23 course at AC is cancelled. No more hiring planned until the end of the summer at least.

This will have an impact on hiring at Jazz as well no doubt.
