Re: Georgian AD

My prediction is Encore BUYS ggn, merges it together and now they've got some regional jet and CRJ experience. Then they'll dump the 100s and put in an order for the "CRJ900neo" That won't happen. Bombardier is ending production on the CRJ 900 in 2020 after the current orders are completed. It is g...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?

You're all missing the point: SR pays $8/hr more than the new contract. I think you’re missing the point. At the end of the month, who takes home more money, per diems and pensions? I’m guessing a Jazz pilot. And before someone chimes in and says per diems aren’t compensation, they are. The per die...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?

When a company forces or pressures an employee group into the concessions (a/b scale contract) then also a ultra long term under paid contract, that company surrenders all ability to complain about people leaving. Probably why it’s the Jazz koolaid drinkers doing the complaining and not even the co...

Jazz has a hidden bond in the form of suppressed pay for the first few years. Everybody "pays" this indirectly.
How exactly is that a bond? You can leave whenever you like.

Re: Pilot shortage State side

Why not Mesa? Just curious. They have flow to United. Same with Envoy lower starting pay than some others but guaranteed flow to American (roughly 5 years they say right now) They have a history of treating their pilots, and employees poorly. Many pilots have left there in a lateral move to Endeavo...

Apparently the next three classes will be 20 each and then dropping back to 16 per class after that for a while.

There will definitely be new hire classes in April and May.

I don’t know how many bloody times this has to be explained, but here goes again: YYCjetdriver I assume you work for a carrier that owns its Flying? Like probably WestJet? Well in that case your Pilots would be well advised to not sign a long term contract - keep the terms as short as possible. How...

Re: Esop reduction..

Allowing representatives to negotiate a record 17 year contract while knowing full well they only had to endure months of set contract. This blows my mind. Not to mention the fact it’s fair to assume their number 1 priority during the negotiations would have nothing to do with the well being of the...

Not for the pilots. Still 60% as per the MOS.

Can we get a round of applause for SMS?

Gino Under
SMS works well at most 705 carriers in Canada and very well at Jazz where I beilieve you work Gino. Many other countries, including the ASAP programs in the US are not as evolved as we are in Canada in this regard.

Wow.....talk about an over-reaction from almost everybody. It's the herd mentality at it's worst. It's now all about optics. If everyone else is doing it - you cant hold out forever. Of course - now you have joe blow public all in a tizzy and not wanting to fly on the Max. There has to be a worldwi...

Question for any Ggn pilots. There seems to be a fair number of pilots from Ggn on the combined seniority list when the bid was posted that don't appear on the published results.

Did some pilots pull their names and elect to stay at Ggn or flow directly to AC?

Bid is out. Some pretty junior Captains in there. Looks like upgrades under 12 months now.
On every bases or a specific one and specific equipment?
YUL Dash and Q400. YYZ Dash 8 and YVR Q400 went junior too.

So on a Cessna or Beaver you will have to wear them. On an Otter or Twin Otter no.

Not sure if that makes sense.
Otter would also require them, 9 pax.
Harbour Air’s turbine Otters hold up to 14 passengers. Not sure about other operators.

I agree. On the next bid there will be OTS captain positions with effective dates that start early 2020.
Next bid should be In August.

Around 2 years plus right now. There wasn't much movement last year but we'll have to see what this bid shows.
Rumour has it that we will be hiring OTS captains before the end of this year as there won’t be enough FOs in house that will have the time to get an ATPL and upgrade.

If you ever think you might want to, or need to go, you should apply now. The hiring process sometimes takes a long time. Like years. Every 3 weeks there are 30-40 people going ahead of you. That changes your potential career by a significant amount. I think I read the new Jazz contract might make ...

My company has a 20 days on 12 days off roster. This includes your vacation days. My off days are fixed so...

Encore and Porter both pay better than Jazz.
Perhaps to start, but not in the long term

Upgrade prospects are also better at Jazz and flowing to AC mainline is almost guaranteed.
