Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco

The descent into HUX is made in Non Radar environment. Like all of Central America, Mexico, you are on your own for terrain. Cleared for the approach doesn't mean you can just automatically descend down to whatever altitude you want to, you still need to respect minimum safe altitudes. In this case ...

Great video! You guys and gals at WJ look to be in good hands.

I wonder how much stock all the pilots collectively hold .... As owners could you not collectively apply pressure?

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco

This isn't a "job well done" you reacted to a GPWS call out and saved 250 lives scenario. Should be a demotion and a ton of extra training scenario, at the very least. The standard needs to be much higher. There have been way to many serious incident going on lately with this airline. Something else...

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco

HUX can be "challenging" if your used to vectors onto the approach or star arrivals all day every day. Really it comes back to basic IFR flying, following sector altitudes along airways, minimum sector altitudes on approach charts until you arrive over the VOR to begin the approach. You might even h...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up

I think its pretty clear the pilot groups in Canada need to do a much better job of working together / start pushing for more common goals so we stop under cutting each other. Nationally if we had our act together we wouldn't be where we are today. It will only keep getting worse unless we can find ...

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit

Alright, honest question. Is it not better to have the foreign pilot flying under our regulations and controlled by a Canadian operator? Is it not better to have the foreign pilot pass Canadian ground schools, ppc, line checks, etc by Canadian pilots ? They are coming one way or another, with wet le...

I'm all for competition but Canada's airlines should be protected from state run airlines like middle east 3.

Thoughts on purchasing WJ stock at its current level?

Re: TFW Application Denied for Sunwing's Winter 2015/16 Seas

It's a global business environment these days. Language that ensures a 1:1 ratio of exchange pilots is the way to go as it ensures full time employement with healthy companies.

How many seats does air canada or WJ sell on foreign airlines? Everyone makes use of foreign pilots.

Re: Sunwing says they want 145 seasonal pilots - genuine?

I see the Sunwing fan club is back, just as a fyi tvs is in much better financial shape than c north. That and their pilots due relatively well for where they live and generally enjoy coming here because they make more. There are no 250 hr pilots flying for swg. And ficu transat used some Travel ser...

Re: Is it true SWG is only hiring Canadian pilots this year?

The airlines swg work with in Europe both have highly seasonal business that happen to be opposite to the Canadian busy season. Hopefully once we can get better recognition for our licenses swg will be able to send more over.

Probably just a silent check although the after takeoff checklist does have bleed and pack check on it. Guess that got missed as well. Amazing how different Boeing and Airbus products are with that overhead panel.

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

easy bud, I'm not criticizing the AC crew. Just the notion that landing in YFB in the winter constitutes an emergency for a 777. I'm not sure why your drawing parallels between ETOPS and electrical smoke but anyways enjoy the new year.

Re: AC 'slight elec smell' diversion

Landing in frobay in winter is an emergency now? Okay I get it YFB is not a preferred destination hence AC pulled Jazz off that run but coming into a 9000 *200 ft paved strip with 24 hr ATC, MTC, ILS approach, defiantly not an emergency situation. They can accommodate that aircraft.
