Re: Chartright Paiggio questions

Yes things have changed. Most planes are 3 crew, giving you a 2 week on call, 1 week off schedule. Although we have flexibility between crew members to cover for each other as required. I suspect the average days flown per month is around 10-12 except for the ultras as they are work horses. However,...

Re: Sky Service Business Aviation

I think Chartright Air is now the biggest management company in Canada (by pure tail numbers), and pay is all over the place at sky.
I have some friends at Sky who seem to be paid a reasonable amount and others seem a little low. It really boils down to what you negotiate with the company/owner.

Re: Bad press from the CBC

No, it says all but one declined, or put differently- only one responded. Let’s face it, these companies are smart enough not to say anything to this reporter. Based on her report, she would likely manipulate whatever they said anyway. Better to leave this straw clutching drivel expire into yesterda...

Re: Corporate vs Airlines

Another thing to remember is you don’t build time that fast in the corporate world. As mentioned above, if you want to get in a good gig, you’ll need considerably more hours than you currently have. If you go the airline route, you’ll build time fast and still have the option (if you really don’t li...

Re: CBAA 2019 Compensation Survey

I would expect them to be higher than 4.4%. CPI alone was 4.8% from 2017 to 2019. I’ve seen large jumps in pay over the past 18 months at our company. I’m always a little suspect of these surveys though. CBAA are in it for the businesses not the pilots. Didn’t they lobby against the new fatigue rules?

Re: CBAA 2019 Compensation Survey

Thanks schnitzel2k3.

I figured I’d have to age the numbers.

I’m not sure about the 20% claim above but I would imagine it’s above CPI. Maybe somewhere between 10-15%?
Not that I completely trust the CBAA/NBAA numbers anyway. They are in it for the business owners, not the pilots.

Re: CBAA 2019 Compensation Survey

It should be representative. We fly the same planes in the same airspace. The only difference is we are allowed to fly considerably longer days and for the most part, we have higher living/ housing costs. The only reason it isn’t, is because a few large management companies seem to be suppressing wa...

Most Corporate gigs also don’t offer 67k for a global F.O.
That’s what I would expect Right seat on an Ultra/Bravo or Similar.

Re: 2017 NBAA numbers are out

Yes it is USD The 25% and 75% figures are to show you the range of pay. The NBAA actually give the highest, lowest and every 10% in between. But from the numbers I gave you, it's easy enough to work out. If you are brand new to the company and plane and it's at the lower end of the catagory weight t...

2017 NBAA numbers are out

So this is approx numbers for each weight catagory. So look at your aircrafts MTOW and approximate where it falls in the catagory scale. For example, let's say you are flying a Challenger 300 and been on it for a couple of years, it would be at the upper end of the 20,000lb to 45,000lb scale so use ...

Re: Rolling Rest for "On Call"

I'm on call for a 14 days at a time (as is quite common I believe -14/3) so the idea of trying to stay rested and have strategic naps just in case a trip comes up is not really going to work that well. Luckily this scenario doesn't happen that often, but I do wonder what the investigation would say ...

Rolling Rest for "On Call"

As I was scouring the interweb today I came across this article from the NBAA about duty regs and being On Call. While I aware it is US based FAA regs, I was wondering what you guys/gals thought of it? https://www.nbaa.org/ops/part135/20160126-clearing-up-confusion-surrounding-part-135-crew-duty-res...

Care to elaborate Broker?

Is this first hand info or friend of a friend of a friend?

It's always good to share info on the good and bad out there as knowledge is power, and companies hate pilots knowing stuff they shouldn't!!

Haha sounds like you have worked there! The old 10pm email to tell you you're released in 2 hours time for the next 3 days! There is some talk of possible pay increases across the pilot group, but I'm not expecting anything spectacular and have no idea when this is supposed to be happening, I know a...
