Re: Flying Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and Jazz Air / Air Canada Express for the first time

As for Jazz, it has the highest paid regional airline pilots and mechanics in North America
Highest paid regional pilots in North America? Only if you don’t include the USA in your definition of North America

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

Not to deal with mortgages, but a situation I had almost 10 years ago: I was offered a job with a reputable Northern Ontario company flying Metro's. I needed to pay a $10,000 bond up front (which I didn't have in my account), so I was told to go to a bank and get a loan. So I go to the bank and ask...

I never said you were a millennial. Just that the attitude of wanting everyone to help your life improve is a stereotypical characteristic of said group.

If you are not satisfied with your life, look at yourself and stop blaming others for holding up your progression.
This thread reeks of millennial self entitlement.

Who's going to wake them out of their head bobbing nap? Or when they need to go pee or when they have a knife and fork in their hands or when they become incapacitated or when they are screwing up or when there are multiple MELs and are expected to fly through the night with no AP AT for 11 hours o...

Competition? Most qualified gets the job? That is extremely naive. That’s not how the government hires people in Canada. Race, sex and disability takes precedence. Also helps to know someone on the inside.

I first applied at TC when I was 19 as they claimed they were Nationwide short of Inspectors. I applied almost every year after that. I am now 60 and looking forward to the call from them.
Dodged a bullet then!

I guess it depends on how you spend your time. You can waste days slam clicking your fellow crew in a Hilton or Marriott or you can get out and enjoy the world and get paid to do it!

Most copilots/cocaptains would stare at you wondering why you are riding the controls for 8hrs on autopilot. You do know that if the autopilot kicks of there will be an aural warning right? And likely an oral warning from the other pilot lol

Climb gradients are not always due to obstacles, sometimes they are used for ATC procedures. In this case with spec vis I would say it is obstacle based. So what has changed?

Re: Russia's 4th Richest Woman Killed In Freak Private Jet Crash

Smart businesswoman saved money on a single engine airplane and a single (probably) less experienced pilot to fly it. A ruble saved is a ruble earned. For the life of me I can’t understand why the mega rich behave this way. If I had that kind of money I would spend on good maintenance and experienc...

That's correct.

Nobody is bringing home $1200/mo.

You will never be allowed to work in the US. Not because the US doesn't want you to work there. I don't think they really care very much, you are not even on their radar. There is a reason that Pilots are always left off things like NAFTA talks... it's that the Canadian government is being very hea...
