Re: 2004 Pelee Island Georgian Express Van crash now in court

They always pushed but when we said no, that was the end of it...then they usually found the next pilot in line to do it.
And we still flew in ice after the North Bay crash.

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

We haven’t got that far down the resume pile yet!
It will come, barring some financial disaster or another 911 type event.

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Realistically, as long as AC flat pay is such a disgrace, wages aren’t going anywhere. And the flat pay won’t change until the resume pile thins out drastically. That will never happen as long as a kid with 250hrs can sit right seat in an airliner. The 1500hr rule sure changed the financial fortunes...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Actually my post was meant to highlight the sad state of airine pay in canada. A new pilot at AC or it’s regionals shouldn’t need to live in their parents basement. A failed immigration policy that has contributed to insane housing prices also doesn’t help.

Interesting choice considering how difficult it is becoming to operate GA aircraft from YYZ

Ah yes, Living in your parents basement while your instagram shows pics of you posing beside the maple leaf on your Dash 8 tail! At least you can tell people that you fly an “Air Canada” plane!

I would have thought after SFO that the FAA would have started a push to line up our duty regs and experience rules with theirs. I guess until the planes actually collide nothing will be done.

You're not going to get any love here. Go get a job at an airline that isn't degrading our industry. Yes go work at AC and be the lowest paid 777 FO on the planet! Sorry how much do 737 Captains make at Swoop again? Everyone is always so quick to blame AC for their pay. I blame the Westjet, Swoops ...

Sounds like a good way to spend the summer and then spend the winter down south in flipflops with a pail of beer.
What is the salary like?

I guess the quality of pilot training dropped from the early 90s to the early 2000s...or the trees grew substantiallly 🤔

E3 visa was around long before Trump/Trudeau.
And you can bet that the pilot unions will fight tooth and nail against the border opening up to Canadians. They don’t want us coming in and doing the job for less (think Sunwing TFW fiasco)

Airline license required for airline flights, both seats.
This would definitely turn things around....although the Made in Canada solution would likely be TFWs

Re: Will we ever stop shooting ourselves in the foot?

And yet I still hear Jazz pilots claim to be the highest paid regional pilots in North America  Pay will never increase as long as our flag carrier pays poverty wages with the flat pay garbage. We have the lowest paid 777 FOs on Earth and I am sure that two of the next three posts will likely ...

This would never happen in Canuckistan. Pilots will never stick together, and even if they did, the government would step in.

Re: Interim bid out

If Air Canada wants to fix its crewing problem (and help the profession in the process), all it is has to do is to cancel the 4 year probationary pay. How can one be on probation for 4 long years?! Not even at NASA!! You are confusing your facts. It is a 4 years flat pay system which matches WJ pay...

Re: Interim bid out

I'd imagine it's also a bit embarrassing being among the worst paid WB FOs in the world. I'd imagine it is THE lowest paying WB FO job in the world. There's no where else paying the equivalent of $40k USD on wide-body aircraft including third world countries. Not all about pay though, you have to t...
