Thanks for your post brown bear. I also knew Peter very well as I carpooled with him to flight school.
I met you when I went out to see him in Smithers in march 06. I have 2 pictures of you and Peter and the captain (forget his name) standing outside the Smithers office.

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013
Thanks old timer. I've done a few NTS in flight shutdowns as well for training and after a new engine install but not with those engine models and it really does work quite well. That why I'm puzzled as to how there was an accident and not a single engine landing. I suppose we will have to wait for ...

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013
Thanks for the link triples7en and the info. Sorry my terminology was wrong, it is "speed lever" not condition lever. That's interesting to know there is that beta backup on those -11,-12's. mind you it isn't designed to be a fast way to fx the prop. The holes on the end of the beta tube are very sm...

Re: Tpe 331
So can some Garrett geeks help me out: I have a few thousand hrs on the 331-2 and -5 which are smaller then the ones on the metro IIIs. Are the metros using -12's? I always understood when the NTS system senses negative TQ (ie prop driving engine) then the helical gears that revolve around the sun g...

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Taking an aircraft in and out of a warm hanger to -25C or lower temps repeated is worse, and almost as much work. Lots of condensation in the fuel/oil sys like Adiabatic says. Engine tents and good engine heating will keep engines fine, just need to pre-heat the cabin. Its when things go below -45C ...

Re: Resolute Bay Accident - Pilots Discussion Thread
The plate from last year that I remember for the ILS 35T (when they had the cape martyr ndb) also had an IF called "CIPOT" did it not? That way RNAV capable aircraft inbound from the south could navigate to that point then switch the HSi from rnav to ILS. Why did they get rid of the IF?

thats awsome. Resolute Bay does suck if your just there to earn a living. I feel bad for all those unsuspecting east coasters who come up to work for Mr. A.
I talked to one guy who was a fueler in Res, he started at $9/hr. pretty sweet.

No security from YZF-YFB and vice versa on the 737. You can carry a leatherman, your own booze or anything you want on the plane.

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?
Summit Air in YZF recently hired 3 people in april with around 200 hrs. it only took them 2 months to get checked out on the d228. Another guy jsut started about 1 month ago and is getting checked out shortly. Not a bad ramp time if you ask me. An above poster said the ramp wait in YZF in 3+ years. ...

Re: FAA Ignores Safety warnings re: ice buildup on Boeing 777s
Are 777 pilots still doing an "engine fuel line clearing" procedure of some sort where they power up the engines during or before decent to increase fuel flow and push through any iced up fuel? I was on a 777-200, same model of a/c that BA was using when they landed short of heathrow rwy last year a...

When I was up there the clean up crew was at Shepard Bay. Where are they at now? Theres clean up crews at Cape Dyer (Dye Main), Dewar lakes(fox3), Makar Inlet (cam5), Jenny Lind (cam 1), and Byron Bay (Pin4) this summer. They will be wrapping up for the season again. Most of all the other sites are...

Fuel Kit Filters
Looking to upgrade fuel kit filters, and wondering if anyone with experience with fuel kits has any suggestions. 2 main companies are Velcon and Facet, and I currently have a velcon cartridge which is good but am looking for something else to supplement it or just one good cartridge to replace it.
