Re: Getting a bonus trip out of your CPL mandatory hours?

The OFC trips are great, another one is expected to be planned in the spring. Go to Springbank and see if you can find any other people there who would be willing to go on such a trip!

Also, you didn't mention what kind of planes you'd be taking? I'm assuming you'd be renting though?

You can't go wrong with any of these choices, IMHO - I've known some of these guys (Gerry, Glenn) for 25 years now  Gerry's still around! Just did my multi flight test! Excellent examiner and instructor! On topic: My buddy is at OAS and loves it. Flying the Grob more often than the Katanas.

Re: INRAT written exam

I've been using Dauntless http://www.dauntless-soft.com/products/ ... /inrat.asp and its been great for me. Software is pretty cheap, make sure if you get it to choose the system / OS you'll be using it on, because it is non transferable.

It used to be required. It's not required any more.
This is correct, how we practice coming in on one engine, is just a throttle cut and then a simulated feather when called for.

Re: What next after CPL/ME/IR ?

Why did you not select aerobatics? I'd assume they would increase the stick and rudder skills for sure. Granted, it is another rating that you're generally not going to use, is that why?

Re: Thoughts on Sault vs Conestoga flight programs?

To be honest. I did a semester at Sault at first I was like wow, this is going to be great! Once Christmas came around I hated how they did their teaching (not saying it was bad, just not for me) and the way there schedule worked. You don't fly for the first semester which is true. Then you head to ...
