Re: Moncton Flight College or Gander Flight Training?
ICPC at MFC is doable in 1 year if you are motivated and don't fall behind. Highly recommend.

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?
Are you suggesting waiting until you hit at least 3000tt? No. I would apply the day you hit the minimum requirements listed on their employment site. I just wouldn't expect to get hired at the minimum. Total experience is an issue right now. AC is reactive and right now they are reacting to Transpo...

Re: Moncton Flight College?
As stated above, the 12 month ICPC might be a better option at your age if you have prior education. That's what I did. I was able to complete the ICPC and instructor course all in 14 months, but did not work part-time and was 100% focused on getting it done. Instructed for a year then moved on. Ha...

Re: Commuting at Jazz
As a new hire, you will most likely be on reserve, and get 12 days off. You can do 6 reserve days in a row in you get the mid-day reserve that starts at 8am. Only 5 in a row if you get the early 3am reserve. You could technically do 6on-1off-6on-1off-6on, then get a stretch off, but since schedules ...

Re: Bidding for base is only after getting hired?
Does Jazz hire people with only one base choice? Or all hires have to bid on the base? Basically, due to some personal reasons, is there a way to know if you can start at the base you prefer before commencing training? Base and aircraft is picked during the first week of training. You do not know w...

Re: Commuting
Is it feasible for a Westerner to commute? Is there a deadhead policy? Any info would be appreciated. TIA. Porter's commuting policy was just altered on the last pilot call. Commuting between the Pilot’s assigned Crew Base and any Porter destination is allowed, provided it is connected by a single ...

This can't be good for the Q400 operations on the east coast with Jazz. I didn't think another airline could operate Q400 for Air Canada Express with the current contract.

Re: PAL Airlines
They currently don’t have a plane based in YHZ, but last I heard the plan was to have a Dash 8-100 based there again for the summer. Crews are currently being deadheaded to YUL or YYT for week long pairings. The YHZ base was never really stable. As for how much time for FO, given the current situati...

I commute YQM-YUL. Definitely not easy with only 2 flights per day. Flights are often full and I use the jumpseat to commute.

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out with DEC. There are several FOs from previous groundschools that have Q400 and RJ Captain on their standing bid and they haven't been processed yet, while these new DEC are getting paid Captain salary from day 1.

6 months 58 No longer 6 months for AC passes. I got them for spouse / family on day 1. Travel on other airlines is still 6 months. Might be so at mainline, but at Jazz (since this is a Jazz forum), there is still a 6 month wait. The employee can travel himself from day one to commute to and from hi...

How about out east.. if someone was looking for YUL base and had the choice between RJ and Q4 in ground school. Fastest upgrades, or going up in seniority quicker.. one type with more multi day pairings if someone will be commuting?

I got an invite for a sim eval in YYZ at the end of April. They said it was in a Dash 300 sim. I got one as well. Second last week of April. Same thing, YYZ DH8 sim. How Long did you you have to wait from the interview to when they invited you if I may ask? It was about 2 weeks for me.

Re: Moncton Flight College
Definitely legit. I did the integrated ATPL program with MFC, I would say it is a well organized program and I enjoyed my time there. MFC Training has been rebranded since it has been bought by EIC, and is now a division of PAL. They also have programs in place (life in flight) where you instruct at...

Re: MFC still flying?
They only started flying again about a week ago, at reduced capacity, now that NB is slowly easing up restrictions. They are taking it slow, only a handful of instructors have been rehired so far. Everyone wearing masks, disinfecting aircrafts between flights, etc.
