Re: Porter airlines ( hired less than 1000tt ? ?)
Last I heard, the majority of new hires still have well over 1000 hours TT. They are interviewing pilots with 500+ hours TT IF they're in the Destination Porter mentor program. Once they pass the interview and the sim eval, a conditional offer is made for the next available course date after they re...

Re: Training for PPL, Few questions.
If both of you are progressing at the same pace, have the instructor PGI both of you at the same time. That'll cut the bit you spend on ground briefs in half. Also as photofly suggested, if you are learning in an airplane with rear seats, sit in on each other's flights (if you're not doing upper air...

Re: Class IV Instructor Written Exam
A regular calculator will suffice (or do a little mental math). Pretty easy exam. Calculate angle of bank in a rate one turn given a TAS, calculate maneuvering speed, the rest all knowledge based questions, click click click you're done! No maps to maneuver on the table, no markers, no practical MET...

Re: RIP Mike Spence
He did my Class 4 ride last November. Great guy! Gave me a bunch of handouts he put together on "movements and attitudes", design eye reference point and some suggestions to make the class 3 upgrade quick and easy. He was so thorough and gave such good advice.

Re: Instructor rating help
Try to use a variety of visuals. They like to see that. Use the board, USE THE MODEL AIRPLANE, use overheads (you can draw on them), point at the poster of the cockpit layout, give handouts, etc. Powerpoints make me fall asleep and zone out. I ended up going home and self learning everything in both...

Re: AIRAF temporary cpl issue
Oh that sucks..Maybe I happened to speak to someone who's actually responsible for processing licenses. She put me on hold and found my application in her pile and told me she'd get it done that day. It was the Toronto Yonge Street office that I called. Good luck!

Re: AIRAF temporary cpl issue
I think you should call Transport again and see if they can process your license first. I remember I didn't get my license within 90 days of my sign off. Turns out the instructor who signed off my CPL didn't sent in the documents until a few weeks later. I called Transport and told them the temporar...

Re: Which gta schools are hiring class 4 instructors?
Spectrum was looking, but that was 6 months ago. The others like to hire their own trainees. Can I ask why you did your rating at a school that isn't conducive to subsequent employment? Thanks for replying! I did all my flight training and started the instructor rating at the school and rented a pl...

Which gta schools are hiring class 4 instructors?
Hi everyone, Just wondering which flight schools around the GTA are currently hiring or will be hiring soon. I'm almost done my rating at a school that is far from home, so if I do get a job there I would need to rent a place or drive 4 hours a day. I'd like to see if there are schools in the GTA th...
